Don't buy

Had this dishwasher for only three years and will not start monthly. It errors the door is open. All lights on but wont start door. Makes a beep like the door is open but it is not. I have had to reset by turning off the fuse but no longer works to start. The washer never washed the dishes well. Waste of money. only last 2-3 years.
Don't buy GE dishwashers.
I had a old Maytag that I sold that was still working after 15 years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cleans the dishes well enough.

We purchased this dishwasher in July. The GE dishwasher cleans the dishes well if food particles are rinsed off and there are several selections i.e. steam, sanitize etc. The one problem that I have is with the basket that holds the silverware. It does not function well when it is hooked on the door. The spoons, knifes and forks fall out easily when the door is opened. The only other place is to hang it on the lower shelf and there are two catches that hold it in place but not that well and it the basket can fall of easily. I wished that had designed it to fit into the area where the dinner plates are washed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Just doesn't fit the dishes or silverware well

The negatives:
1. Silverware in the door is a real problem to load. If you take the rack out, the silverware pokes through and can't fit back. This was a big mistake buying this model when they have a similar model with a normal rack.
2. This unit will not fit a dinner plate and salad plate side by side. I know the photo shows you can, but those are baby sized plates. The net efficiency of useful space is severely compromised by the silverware in the door. The other model adds 2.5" which is just enough for side by side dinner & salad plates.
3. The wine glass retainers are poorly supported with a fragile tab and never stay up out of the way. The other model has the retainer system built into the bottom and not a tab.
4. Be prepared for a shock on how long it takes to do dishes. Up to 5 hours depending on the settings. Our 20 year old dishwasher took 28 minutes (light load setting) to 45 minutes (pots and pans setting) including heat dry cycle. The unit is quiet, but makes so many weird buzzes, hums and clicks that it is annoying. Even for sleeping with it on. I am hesitant to leave it on and leave the house for we had a previous dishwasher that the heat cycle stayed on and melted everything inside. Lucky we did not burn the house down.

Overall, we are severely disappointed in selecting this model when GE offers a far more useful model at the same price... and the inside door is stainless instead of plastic on that model. Heed my advice and stay away from this model or any model with silverware in the door.

Disappointing represenation of the brand

Supremely disappointed in this one. I purchased this dishwasher a few years ago, and even still it has had no more than 150 uses, but it completely bricked. Similar to other reviews, intermitent beeping/ flashing was first, then completely dead.
Purchasing GE based on the old reputation of the brand of reliability left an even more sour taste on this one as I was not abused (and hardly even used!) yet will cost me significantly to either repair it only to have the same outcome later no doubt, or replace it with another unit that I likely won't fully trust as well.
I've even waited likely too long now to reach out for help because I know there is nothing GE will even offer to do to make it right other than passing along the feedback internally which amounts to more wasted time that I could've been hand-washing my dirty dishes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had this dishwasher for several months now. I would not purchase this again for the following reasons:
1. Very limited in loading dishes in the bottom rack.
2. Soap dispenser does not always open up because of placement of silverware.
3. Individual side racks do not stay up when not in use.

a HUGE mistake!

i am SO disappointed in this dishwasher. i thought by replacing my 10 yr old dishwasher there would have so many improvements since appliances are constantly being improved. this is not so with this brand new GE dishwasher. even with heated dry, most of the contents are still wet. my old dishwasher's air dry setting left nothing wet, with no extra heating needed. with this new GE i never know when it's washing or rinsing or drying. it just indicates the time the whole process would take and time left. surprisingly, there's no "quick rinse" or "quick wash" cycle at all, or a crystal or glass setting. also, there are no tines that move as advertised. i have never been so disappointed in a new appliance before. GE has always been my go-to brand when i needed a new appliance and i have not been disappointed until now. new is not always better. i never expected such poor quality performance. i wish i could turn back time or that GE would get a replacement with better results since i'll have to live with this mistake for years... : (

A PRETTY SWEET LITTLE UNIT

I picked this bad boy as a Christmas gift to my lady love. She was thrilled with the bottle jets since we have a little baby boy on the way. I like the idea that we can run half loads using the zones system. I installed this puppy in about an hour and a half. Pretty simple really and oh boy is it quite. Like a gentle drizzle outside.
I would recommend this to a friend!
