Plug and play setup, easy stream to deck speakers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Arrived yesterday and was streaming music to deck speakers soon after. Connecting speaker wires was easy thanks to detaching connector plug. I have large gauge wires and no problem with connection. Plugged in SA5 and after a SW update, was streaming music to deck speakers. Sound touch app makes it easy to stream content and set volume level, super convenient when you're outside in the yard. App seamlessly connected to my other sound touch speaker. Should have purchased this setup long ago, old setup with Denon receiver app stopped working after Android phone update which made deck speakers less useful, app was also chunky. Sound touch app is a big improvement.

Great wireless Amp, needing some add'l development

I debated a long time between the Sonos and Bose wireless systems. I finally started with a Soundtouch 120 based on greater flexibility in source inputs and slightly lower cost. I am very happy with the sound bar and sub in this room. A couple weeks later I added a wireless SA5 amp to drive existing wired speakers and plan additional Bose wireless speakers and possibly SA5 additions throughout the house. The 120 and SA5 pair well when streaming from Pandora, Spotify, my music library, etc. At a slightly lower price and higher power output I would probably rate 5 stars; however, additional software development is also needed so that HDMI and optical inputs to the 120 and Aux inputs to the SA5 can also be paired within a Soundtouch group and played everywhere or within defined zones throughout the house. For example, it would be nice to add a SA5 to the 120 to have rear surround sound thru existing wired speakers. I did understand this limitation at time of purchase. I'd rate SA5 installation, WiFi connection to Soundtouch app, etc. as moderately time consuming (30-60 min). I work in technology.

Has Improved Over The Years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As my title says this device and the soundtouch system has improved over the years. I have had mine since June 2016. Initally the soundtouch via bluetooth was hit or miss. Now thanks to software upgrades it works perfectly. I'm using one pair of speakers and the AUX jack to push sound from a cable box to the outdoor speakers. Perfect for sporting events.

Horrible, frustrating

Hello, I bought the SA-5 after long research and justifying the large price. It does not hold the connection and is constantly searching for the speakers via the app. I changed out my router thinking it was a wifi problem and it still does not work. I have fiber up and own with 100 meg and it just does not work. I love Bose and thought this would work, but now I am frantically looking for another solution.

I love this amplifier

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 of these and a Sound Touch 700 Soundbar. We recently built a pool house/shop, and since we already have this amp for the house & basement systems, we added a 3rd. Coupled with the Soundbar in the great room, we have an entire house and now poolside/shop filled with music. They sync up effortlessly across WiFi, so no need to run cables everywhere. The pool house has sometimes sketch WiFi access because of the distance from the house, but it runs flawlessly.
I also have 12 Amazon Alexa devices all over the house. Controlling all of these amps is as easy as saying "Alexa, play Today's Hits on Pool"
I will admit, the app kinda sucks and is in serious need of an upgrade. You can say "Alexa, volume up/down on pool" for instance, and it only goes up/down a little. I thing you should be able to say levels (as with Alexa) like, "Volume 1" for lowest or "Volume 10" for highest, with each number in between as different levels...just my 2 cents

Terrible app

Very poorly performing app. The control app for this product consistently can not find or loses this unit. I’ve gone as far as running cat6 directly from my network router to the SA5 and still very poor performance.

Awesome WIFI Amplifier that brings music outdoors

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently decided to upgrade my 30 year old home stereo equipment to a WIFI system, and selected BOSE SoundTouch. I purchased various SoundTouch Products for various rooms in the house, but needed the WIFI sound to reach outside on the deck. I already had hard wired speakers, so I bought the SA-5 to enable those speakers to work with the other WIFI Speakers. Also, the SA-5 allows my CD Changer to connect, so I can play my CDs. Set up was easy with the SoundTouch app. lt's great to have music playing all over the house. I am very satisfied with the BOSE SoundTouch SA-5 Amplifier. My only request would be allowing Speaker A and B to be controlled separately.

System works very well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have this amp close to my home router so I have it hard wired via Ethernet. I have had almost 2 years and never had a single issue. Other than once in a while the neighbors don’t like the volume!!
