Lacks HDCP 2.2 Support

The sound quality and ease of use are great, but the advertised 4K but lack of HDCP 2.2 support makes the Sony STR-DH550 hard to recommend. Spend a few more dollars and get a receiver that will allow you to watch your copyright protected 4K content without having to jerryrig the connection.
I recently purchased this new receiver because my new PS4 Slim doesn't have optical. So I needed a receiver with HDMI inputs. This has 4 HDMI inputs and it really simplifies my entire set up! I couldn't be happier with it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Have a problem with mine suddenly when I turn it on after about 3 seconds it starts flashing protector and the shuts off to standby what do I do
I had another brand before but this one operates a lot better and the surround sound is great. It operates just the way I like it, easy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

bought this unit to replace 7.1 channel Onkyo receiver that crashed. i was looking for adequate power to drive 2 B&W bookshelf speakers, a Velodyne powered subwoofer + 2 in-ceiling speakers for surround sound. As i live in an apartment, the volume i use is always moderate, but at those levels i want to get full sound, with good response from the subwoofer. the onkyo was difficult to set and always had to increase the volume to "catch" the subwoofer and then lower it slowly...this sony does it effortlessly, with great quality sound at low volume levels. the remote is simple to use. currently i have a turntable, a blue ray dvd player, a cd player, an Apple TV and a dvr from the cable company attached to the avr and everything is working as intended. Why not a 5 star rating? sony includes bluetooth with the next model, a 7.1, not this one and i would have appreciated a couple more HDMI or optical connectors. just recommended the unit to a friend yesterday!
