Nice receiver -- horrible instructions to set up

I would recommend to a friend if you could show drastic improvement in the instructions for the set up process. You really got cheap on that part.
I finally got it going with the help of a friend. Do like the looks, the display, the sound and the multi room feature. Especially like the remote's ease of use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love this thing. It is so flexible and accomodating. It can do anything. My home theater has NEVER sounded better. And, if I forget, the thing even turns itself off when it doesn't sense any sound being directed to it for a while.

Affordable 7.2 Channel Home Theater Receiver

My first stereo/dolby receiver was a Sony which I got back in 1995 and is still in service in my exercise room. The reliability of the Sony brand is one of the reasons that push me to get this 7.2 channel receiver. The Ipod integration is a welcome feature. I can now control my ipod via the remote and it also charges at the same time. The calibration mic is a handy tool for those of you who don't want to mess around with the settings. I use it but had to add my own flare of adjustment. At this price, it's hard to find anything close.

Awful Menu system

The very primitive menu display, pdf download manual and overall inconvenience of this AV receiver is amazing for a SONY product. I still haven't programmed the FM presets or tried my cd changer on it due to the lack of a quick start printed sheet for these basic features. I'm going to devote 1-2 more days before throwing up my hands and returning it for an Onkyo.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent sound quality

Connected my speakers, (a set of Klipsch home theater), and let em roar. The sound is crisp, clear and balanced. Auto function for speaker set up worked great to get my sub tuned right. Features, inputs, and outputs all work great. Connected my TV, DVD, XM radio, X-box for the grandkids, and still have room for more when needed. This is clearly a top shelf unit, for a very good price. But then it does say SONY on the front... Nuf said!

Good Receiver

This Sony Receiver works well. My problem has been trying to figure out how to work it without any instruction book. The only instructions included were the wiring diagram, which works well. Once you complete the wiring diagram, they simply tell you to enjoy your receiver. Big question for me was how? It has been two weeks since purchase and I have figured it out on my own (pretty much) except for bluetooth with my iPhone. Sony needs to include a simple how to operate instruction. The .pdf version on-line is huge and very difficult to navigate. I want to hold the book in my hand and read it.

Hello stevem610! Thank your for your feedback, we will forward it to the proper department for further review. The Bluetooth profiles compatible with this unit are :

1 - A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile): Receives high-quality audio content.
2 - AVRCP 1.3 (Audio Video Remote Control Profile):Controls audio/video devices (pausing, stopping, starting playback, volume control, etc.)

To activate the Bluetooth feature on your receiver it is only necessary to press Bluetooth on the receiver, press Options and then go to BT power and Select either BT On or BT Off. After you have turned this feature ON you can search for the receiver using your iPhone.

I Love It!

I love my new receiver. I had a 21 year-old Sony receiver that was still working, but I couldn't connect all of my other components. This unit is very easy to use, produces great sound and I love that everything runs through the receiver. This is perfect for the price.
