Excellent Photo Printer
on April 26, 2016

I experimented with several different kinds of paper - matte, glossy, ultra glossy, etc. with a variety of photos of animals, nature scenes and art works in a museum. All was excellent and the colors were true. (Of course I had calibrated my monitor and was using PhotoShopCC.)
The WIFI connection to several computers in our house works perfectly - no drops or interruptions.
The scanner does TIFF (good enough for PS), PNG, JPEG, JPEG2000, GIF, BMP,and PDF. I wish it would save as PSD. The quality is good, the maximum dpi is 2400, and there is correction options on the scan software in case you don't have PS or some other image processor.

Epson XP-960 Network Issues
on December 13, 2015

I purchase this printer as an entry level photo printers. I notice banding on the image. The other problem I am experiencing is that the printer does not allow easy network setting. I do not seem to be able to let it see the LAN even if the IP address and subnet is manually input it does not maintain. There is no video or description in the manual that walks one through the problem. Epson needs to correct this issue.

XP-960 out of the gate!

A brand new year and a brand new printer! It's be many years since my first Epson printer purchase. This is a very nice printer. It has a nice small foot print compare to the HP that finally died. It's quit when it prints, the sleep mode is fantastic. I can even print to it from my 'droid phone. Glad I came back home to Epson!

Set up was incredibly easy

This review is only on the set up and the perfectly printed test page. Printer received two days ago and have been staring at it since, trying to work up the determination to set it up and connect it for wireless printing. Today armed with a large bottle of water, coffee and a couple of granola bars I began the dreaded process. In thirty minutes I was DONE and on my way to loving this printer. The numbered instructions are clear, concise and totally understandable. But, you have to READ THEM FIRST. The wireless connection set up itself and the test page printed beautifully. I expect good things from this product. What a difference from the HP experience - I got rid of because it was such a beast to deal with. Name me very happy so far!

This unit replaced an Epson RX680 when the CD tray stopped working and the replacement part to fix it was not available. The 680 still works perfectly except for the CD tray. The 960 is smaller and more compact. There seems to be more moving parts in it than the 680 which is cause for concern, but it works smoothly in its variety of functions. It makes impeccable CDs. Wireless printing works fine, but the keypad is a real drag. To enter a number requires too many keypresses. For a numeral 1 you must scroll through at least a half dozen letters before the numeral appears. Old style celfone design. Frustrating. Legal and 11x17 size printing will be good for posters and such, but the scanner is limited to letter size and the large paper feeds from the rear. Envelopes feed from the tray which is not as handy as rear feeding, and the older 680 has two paper trays, the 960 has one. Several prints have come out with ink blots, and I'm not sure why. Since I've only had the 960 for less than two months, I can't speak to the durability, the dependability, or its long service life. I can only say that I've had other manufacturers' printers and I trust Epson.
