Outstanding color photos, with one huge disappointment

Being an Epson printer owner since around 1990, and having run around 1000 8x10 photos through an Epson Artisan 50, I was quite excited over the prospect of 11" wide capability. Having run photos up to 8.3 x 36", and splicing upper and lower halves to make 16"x36" panoramas with the Artisan 50 I looked forward to what I could do with the 11" width.
The XP-960 will run 8.5" x 44" similar to the Artisan 50, using custom owner defined paper sizes. To my extreme disappointment the XP-960 has NO provision for owner defined 11" wide paper, 11 x 17 is IT!
An outstanding Printer/Scanner/Copier in all respects, except for the inexplicable restriction on 11" width paper length. A firmware update to correct this would be greatly appreciated.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Just set my new printer up, Love it.
Made a nice 4x6 print and didn't need any adjustments and it was wireless!!!!

Great printer, it is replacing my Epson artisan 837.
I use the printer strictly for photo use I am looking for a CISS system for the 960 to replace the system on my 837
I am really pleased with the quality of the prints that I am getting. Fabulous design job on the xp 960

Great printer. Easy to use. Does what it says it would and produces great copies. I use it to reproduce my digitized art work and photos as well as b/w copies.

Have had a lot of problems with the machine deciding which paper try to print. Drinks ink way too fast. SLOW printing time. The cramped DVD tray slot is difficult to find due to the front panel. A very poor design.
No advantage of this XP 960 over the XP 950. SAME machine with a different name. The only advantage to the XP series is the larger paper format which I very seldom use. Regret getting this unit.

Not the quality I expected from Epson

This is my third Epson printer and it pales in comparison to the last two I owned. My last one, the Artisan 837, printed sharp, saturated, beautiful photos. If only it wouldn't have died on me. I thought this Expression 960 would be a good replacement based on reviews I read, but so far it's been kind of a disappointment. The printing is inconsistent. I might get one photo printed nicely but then the next one will be washed out and then the next one will be fine. It doesn't reproduce what I have on the screen like the Artisan used to. I been through all the maintenance settings, but nothing improves the print quality or the consistency across multiple prints. Had I kept the receipt and the box, I would have returned it by now. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to scrap it and look for a better option.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
