Lives up to good reviews. My first wireless network printer. Easy to set up. Prints and scans very well. A little noisy. No problems so far.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great replacement for my Artisan 837
on January 1, 2018

I had a much-used Artisan 837 (my 3rd Artisan printer) that finally died. I was looking for a replacement that had more than 4 ink colors and produced superior photographic images. The Expression 960 met those targets. While it does not have FAX capability, we own another Epson printer that can do that on the rare occasions that we need the
feature.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 960 will do up to 11x17 prints. I admit that the process for printing that size is a bit "clunky" (single sheet feed through the rear of the printer), but it is nice to have the feature.
Photo quality is excellent. Paper feed is better than the Artisan 837.
Negatives would be: 1) small paper capacity, 2) small ink cartridges with the XL cartridges not available locally, and 3) completely manual operation of the CD/DVD printing process. Mildly irritating, but tolerable.
I would recommend this to a friend!

overall the Epson XP960 is an excellent printer -the only thing I don't like is the how the photo tray has been installed - I liked the way it was in the Artisan 730. The photo prints are super - great color and sharp.

11x17 bonus

My aging R280 was still doing well but was, well, aging. So I was looking for the next thing. For serious work, I use my Pro 3880 and the R280 was used for documents, DVD printing and letter format catalogues on Epson double sided. I also use the Epson V700 photo scanner so, a 3 in 1 was not needed but there's no more equivalent to the R280 and I had to look for something on par. The R1430 seems too large for the space available on my desk (it's already busy...) That said, The XP 960 has several attractive features. The dual paper trays, photocopies made easier, the DVD printing, of course, but, above all, the 11x17 format for some advertising. Installation is very simple, everything is fine!

Only as good as its weakest link.

This is my second Epson printer and I am very happy with the quality of the for photos so I bought my second one when the other needed replacement because of print head pads. I now have mechanical issues with my XP-960. It will not work with the 4x6 photo paper cassette. So once again I am faced with replacing my otherwise fully functioning printer because one plastic part.
No matter how good the quality of the print if you can not feed the paper it matters not.
If the mechanics do not work then print quality is not much use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
