Rebel T5 EOS 1200D

Purchased in July 2016. Very impressive camera. I'm running RAW and 720p capture. 200 ISO. Starting out it was difficult--with all the adjustments. Today (Sept 23, 2016) its ready in a second. I also bought the remote shutter switch. 18mm-55mm and the 75mm-300mm were part of the purchase. I've read the owners manual about 5-times. Very necessary. I mainly use Manual-setting / Av-setting / Auto intelligent scene / still photo capture is excellent. Its a great camera, weighs a lot. Don't let your finger cover the integrated flash. (force it to stay closed). Nice software comes with the camera. My 64-bit Win 7 is useless. Except for JPG. I've been a long time PowerShot user, this is a experience.

Love My Camera!

I bought this camera about two years ago and I love it. I used the auto setting at first. Now I use the manual settings after taking a class from a local photographer. I am still learning, but it's getting easier.

DSLR Value

A beginners value in the DSLR line. The kit I bought also included a 75-300mm lens. I'm a noob and getting great pictures. I was very disappointed there was no wifi. However I found the camera is set up to use eye-fi SD cards which transfer pictures via wifi for you. There are various GPS utilities to assist you with tagging your pictures too if that's important to you.
I'm going to give this to my daughter for her birthday I've preordered the t6s and should get it in a few days. I'm extremely excited.

Everything About it is Great

I bought this a little over a year ago and have used it a lot. I love how quick it can focus. I am able to take pictures really fast and it's in full HD so it looks great. It's not heavy at all so it doesn't hurt my arm when I carry it. My neck doesn't doesn't hurt either. The filters work great and it can bring out the color in everything. The cost was really cheap so i could get it right away and it came early. I would recommend my friends to this camera and company. I have already told 3 friends and they got cameras here and the same kind. 10/10

i bought this about two and a half years ago and it has worked perfectly! the photo quality is great and i am very glad with my decision to buy this. However, i was a little surprised when i went and filmed a video and the sound wasn't great. Of course its for photos but i was hoping i could start my career as a videographer too
Overall i loved it!!

Excellent camera and lenses - worth the price.

I have owned the Rebel T5 for slightly over a year now and did not rate it before until I felt I had sufficient time to use it. I am still learning and expect with the numerous features the T5 includes the learning curve is still in front of me, however now the curve is not nearly as steep and for quite a few months now I actually feel I know what I am doing. For the absolute beginner using the auto mode or auto mode without flash is the best way to start taking pictures and get the satisfaction of being a photographer. Next step is the image zone modes where you actually see differences from strictly automatic. For example sports or moving scenes appear clear, portraits exhibit bokeh and the pictures look as if you know what you are doing. The computer brain behind the T5 is amazing even while the picture taker is still learning to be amazing. Next I went to creative modes; this becomes more challenging but is where you start really learning how to take control. Now I shoot in manual because I have become aware of the basics, and I'm taking more control over the settings and the resulting image. I'm practicing now with different light, additional lenses, speeds, apertures, exposures, focusing techniques so I can learn the T5.
The T5 is an excellent entry level camera and I definitely recommend it. If you can afford more money the T6 is newer than the T5 and the T7 is coming out with some newer technology. It is likely if you buy the T5 you will start to wish you spent a little more but then if you buy the T5 and learn all about its capabilities, the money you save now can go to a better upgrade Canon camera beyond entry level. It has been work but is has been fun.
The lenses for the entry level cameras (EF-S) are very good also. Canon has developed lower cost lenses which you will be pleased with. They are not the optically better L series lenses (professional) but they work very very well. Buying the L series lenses is definitely an option since they will fit on the T5 but there is no hurry- learn the camera and the initial lenses you get.
Support from Canon is great. You can speak with a person and they are available until midnight. Email Canon and you get a quick answer even on a holiday. They are knowledgeable and want to help - and they will help. Training videos are offered by Canon, you tube has many specific learning videos for Canon cameras and lenses. There is a wealth of information out there on the internet.
Put your time into it, expect to get frustrated at times and YOU WILL LEARN/TEACH YOURSELF to be a photographer. Good luck and ENJOY.

I am not a photographer or anything close to that. I had been using my iPhone to take pictures when I decided I wanted to get a nice camera for a decent price that was easy to use. This camera is definitely doing the job. I took it to Hawaii with me and got some awesome pictures even while on the move. The camera is easy to use and takes great pictures, would definitely recommend it to people starting out!
