Otter box needs to reduce the front-to-back thickness of their case to to provide a thinner package. More specifically, on an iPhone 6+, the front bezel is so steep and so close to the edge of the display that it's difficult - even with bare fingers - to perform the several sweep-from-edge gestures needed for full iPhone functionality. It's nearly impossible with even thin gloves.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The replacement holster was needed because the clip on the back of the original broke off. The replacement part isn't as sturdy as the original and the clip on the back has the Otter brand on it but it is loose but working fine.

The box fits the new 6s Plus perfectly. Great bold colors (pink/blue) and I know my phone is safe because the 5s I just took out of its OtterBox cover is in perfect condition after a number of drops over the years. I think the additional weight (which isn't more than my 5s box) is worth the piece of mind. I also love the screen cover being included as part of the cover, and not the separate cling type that I can never get set correctly.

I've been using the Defender series cases on my last 3 iPhones, the 4s, the 5c and now the 6s Plus. While the overall design has been the same, I've noticed some subtle changes that work very well.
This new case seems very well polished and designed. It obviously adds some bulk to an otherwise large phone, but the extra bulk is worth it in my opinion.
My only complaint is the customization option doesn't include a belt clip. I use the belt clip every day and find that's an essential accessory with this case. It should be included without an extra cost, just like the pre-packaged cases.
