It's an entry level A/V receiver. You don't get much and it's only stereo. If someone was looking at setting up a stereo system i would recommend this. Again, It's very basic, but it gets the job done.
What's great about it: Price
What's not so great: none
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cheap basic reciever, 200 watt PEAK not continuous

Bought the item in a consignment shop in superb condition. First thing I noticed was the wattage of course. 200 watts I thought! Which should break down to 100 watts to 2 channels and 50 watts to A&B channels. Well let it be known the 200 watts are suppose to be PEAK watts not continious! So your basically getting a little above 50 watts per channel continious front and when using A & B the wattage lessons . This isn't the stereo we had in the early years by far. I had a Sansui that the left side went out on and stupid me sold it CHEAP. It was 80 watts per channel and it pput out a FULL 80 watts on every channel , no peaks PURE power. It blew away all these recievers of today. I also have a Harman Kardon which is 5.1 EXPENSIVE and suppose to be 85 watts per channel and that thing sucks! Over heats when turned up. Maybe getting 35 to 40 top watts per channel. If you can find old school recievers (rebuilt or better) go that direction for full power and durability ! The Sony will be ok till I find something better
This was given to me back when I was in middle school. I am now finishing up my junior year of college, and this has been sitting in my room all that time. I have never had a single problem with it, and it really does have some great features. I use it with a small set of bookshelf speakers, and it works great. The bass/treble EQ is simple and easy to use, and allows me to listen to music exactly the way I want to. If you're looking for a simple receiver that will last you forever, this is the one for you!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Big Bang for the Buck

Paired with nice speakers and enjoying brilliant quality. Amp can pack a punch and maintain fidelity over a broad spectrum. Vinyl through this amp puts a sentimental smile on my face. Using reference headphones and sound is superb. Also, it appears Sony did a fine job of selecting the proper capacitors to deliver the best quality possible in this price range. I might have considered a product with this power at twice the price.
