Update and Correction to Previous Review

In fairness, I must correct a previous review I submitted based on outstanding responsiveness from Roku. I had problems with the Streaming Stick, and difficulties getting through to customer support. I finally got through and they took care of the problem, much to my satisfaction. After receiving my feedback form from that interaction, I received a personal call from a level 3 supervisor, who was all over it. He explained that the problem was not with Roku, but faulty boards with the JVC TV I bought (there was a small stream of similar complaints, and from addition troubleshooting I had done later, I also concluded that it had to be JVC's fault at that point. ) Even though it was JVC's issue, "Roku wants happy customers using its product" and they took care of everything, replacing the unit with an upgraded version, and giving me all kinds of info/help. I was very impressed.
In fairness then, I must revise my review. They have done everything I could have wanted for customer service. They stand by their customers and took "customer satisfaction" to the next level. This is very impressive.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Locks up a lot

Have tried using the stick for a few months. Initially worked great. Have it linked to an older Toshiba TV in combination with Direct TV. Use it mostly to watch Netflix. Erased most of the stock channels to save space. But after a while the device starts to reset on its own regularly. Once this begins it needs to be rebooted to clear it out. Have had to do this multiple times. Frustrating. Firmware is up to date. Wouldn't buy it again.

Maybe it's just Hawaii.....but we tried and tried.....roku works good on only a small number of their channels and streams perfectly, but most are constantly reloading and buffering and interupting the watching....so after more than a week of trying roku we barely use it now....we just stream youtube or other www sites directly onto the phone, pad, or pc....no need roku.

It worked fine for the first few weeks. Then the stick started getting hot & it quit working completely. Went back to my original equipment.

Not what I thought it would be

I bought this a few months ago when I purchased my new tv. I thought it would be a great thing to have since my t.v. Didn't have the smart feature. I have not liked it since I bought it. It's always buffering when my wifi works perfectly and the remote never seems to work you have to push the buttons several times for it to choose something. I am very disappointed in the device

Frustrating Experience

I bought my Roku in March 2014, and it's nothing but hit-or-miss. The device is plagued by connection drops with my router, despite a signal that it rates consistently as "good". Oddly enough, the connection to the remote is even less consistent. The Roku has been a disappointment mitigated only by certain system tweaks that I uncovered on the web. It's not a tool for anyone without a lot of patience and an understanding of home networking and video streaming.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great device, Designing issues

I purchased this as my second Roku and works as amazing as my first(Roku 2). Streaming and channel use is absolutely no problem. The biggest issues are the way the stick is designed. The streaming stick pokes straight out of the back of the tv and on time in moving the tv, I bumped the stick against the wall and now the pin part is angled and the plastic partially cracked. If the pin had mobility to fold downward this would not have been a problem. I'm waiting to have to replace this item because of its design, its very fragile. In my case, the stick required an extra plug in for power but the cord was too short so I had to replace it to connect it to an outlet. Device is awesome, but just be careful of the physical fragility of the device.
I would recommend this to a friend!
