We owned the same microwave for 9 years before it died. (As things go today, I guess that's acceptable life for a microwave.) So we decided to purchase the same model again, the only difference was the previous model had the stainless steel looking door and the new one we have now has the black plastic door. All working parts are great, however when the black plastic door is opened or closed, there is a kind of cheap/not solid sound. It opens and closes fine, just sounds cheap.

Good replacement for old GE model JE2160 SF04

I bought this model to replace our existing GE model JE2160 SF04 (16 yrs old/stopped heating). I chose this model because it has similar features to our old GE microwave and has good reviews. I often use the "Express cook" 1 click buttons, the separate kitchen timer, the add 30 sec feature, the number pad to type in a specific time and power, and the timed defrost option. I find this model works in a similar fashion to our old 2007 model. The fit and finish/quality of the model seems worse than our old model. I've only used it for a few days, but it seems to work fine.

So far, the microwave works perfectly as described. Controls are easy to use, display is easy to see and the high power level cooks food fast.
