Best range we have ever had in over 60 years of marriage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Superior product: cooks, simmers, bakes, looks great, solid yet elegant. Truly a fine piece of workmanship from a company we have trusted over a lifetime. Controls so easy to use, cooktop so easy to clean, temperatures and cook times so easy to select and set. Thanks, GE!

Great Oven-Fair Cooktop-Terrible Control Panel
on March 24, 2013

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ovens are the only good thing about this appliance. The main oven heats quickly; maintains temperature; the convection feature is excellent. The baking drawer takes longer to heat, as the manual states, but it also works well and adds a lot of convenience.
A certain consumer magazine claimed the range elements heat well at high and low settings. Forget about it. You have to set a burner at High or you'll wait a long time before cookware is ready. Then crank it way back to avoid burning or over-boil.
The instruction manual is confusing and badly written.
But the worst thing about this appliance, and the reason I won't recommend it, is the control panel; it's mounted flat and at waist level. That's a design that's just asking for inadvertent contact. Because they're in a flat plane, it's easy to brush against them while using the cook top. You can lock the digital controls only when the oven ISN'T in use. If the oven IS on, you can accidentally turn it off. If you don't hear the little "beep", you won't realize it. You can also reset the timer by mistake. Either issue can ruin dinner. The mechanical range controls aren't immune from this. On two occasions, a heating element turned on when I, again, leaned against the front of the range, pushing and turning the control.

Happy but not great

Happy with my purchase BUT there are definitely things that could be improved upon...controls are inconveniently placed, you must back up & crouch slightly to set timer/oven temp etc. Also have repeatedly turned off oven by leaning too close to controls. Takes longer than I would have anticipated to preheat oven. 12" burner produces so much heat that even on low liquids boil at a full boil. Minor aggravations. Chose this range because other slide-in models no longer fit.

Oven Not Maintaining Set Temperature
on July 3, 2016

Range was installed 6 weeks ago. It looks great, it upgraded the appearance of the kitchen. I'm encountering a problem with the oven, it does not maintain the temperature I've set. It takes 15 minutes to reach temperature but once food is placed in the oven the temperature drops and it never reaches the set temperature again. It's been as much as 75 degrees below the set temp. Very disappointing! I realize I can recalibrate the oven temp but it initially reaches the correct temperature. Will be calling for service and update my review based on the results of the service.

Great range!

We bought our slide-in-range the last of July, 2016. I have used it for 3 months now. It replaces our old drop-in-range and it fit into the space beautifully. I wasn't sure I would like the glass counter top and worried it would be to hard to clean. I have found it fairly easy to keep clean, but some days it does take a little longer to clean than others. I don't regret my decision to go with the glass top instead of coils. In addition to the cleaner that came with the stove, I also bought the scraper at my local hardware store, which has come in handy. I have made several batches of jam, using my old speckled navy blue water bath pot, and had no problems. I find that I have to start everything on 9, high would be 10, and then drop the heat down to about 4, otherwise it takes forever for my food to start cooking. YES, the bottom oven drawer WORKS! I have used it several times and are thrilled to have a second oven. I am 64 and didn't want my large oven to be located at the bottom of the range. The oven drawer solved the problem. I haven't tried the self-cleaning oven yet. I have tried using the convection oven and don't like it, so I am happily using the traditional oven setting. We did order the FULL EXTENSION RACK, I think the number is WB48T10088, and it works great.

Poor design

1-Touch screen on front of range is activated unintentionally by the cook standing in front of the range, reaching for the back burners, or cleaning the cooktop; changes existing settings. The keypad can be deactivated but it also shuts off gas to the cooktop so you can't cook.
2- 50 weeks after installation we put cooktop grates inside oven and ran "self clean" function. The oven door automatically locks during self cleaning. When the cleaning cycle was over, the oven door did not unlock. We couldn't use the cooktop or the oven for a week, waiting for service. The only way to access the lock mechanism is to force the oven door open enough to cut the lock rod off. It damaged the door, destroyed the lock, and the stove still "thinks" the door is locked, so we can't turn on the oven. Horrible design.
Lastly, GE started 1 warranty at purchase, not installation. At 11 months of light use, GE refused consideration, insisting on purchase date as the start date. No more GE products in this home. GE website will not upload photo.

Looks great and works better!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love the way this brute looks almost as well as we like the way it works. Excellent fit and finish inside and outside. The digital oven controls are intuitive and the range top features five elements which fit all of my pots and pans perfectly. Oven is easy to clean, stove top elements work with blazing speed. Best stove I've ever had.

Just got it....really bothered by fan noise.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We just bought this yesterday....LOVE the look of it. But when we turned it on to cook, I was very surprised to hear how noisy the fan was. NOT the convection fan....which I kind of expected to be noisy - but the fan that runs anytime the oven is on. As some other reviewers have noted, you can hear this in many other rooms of the house. I guess I'll get used to it, but I was so excited to buy it, and alot of that excitement has been replaced by stress related to the noise.
