Working well and convenient

We have been using this model for over a month now and are happy with it's performance. We first got a Profile model that was defective and decided to replace it with this Cafe model. This is much more convenient with the broiler in the upper oven for viewing what's going on in there. I've used the lower oven often for short height items (only about 4" clearance) and it has worked well (though the lower oven takes longer to preheat than the top oven). Everything else works well though I'm still adjusting to which burners to use for what. The back left burner has gone out a time or two on low and had to be relit, and the back right burner sometimes has to be lit with a lighter rather than just the 'lite' function on the knob.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We’ve had a year and no issues. Power boil is great, easy to clean, oven is roomy. I love the center burner, really glad we went with that option.

I LOVE my stove

I am new to a gas stovetop, and I absolutely love this stove and the precise control of the burners. I also love the dual fuel larger over with the "baker oven". Even though it's a smaller oven, I use it like a full oven for everything that does not require a larger pan/pot. I love having 2 ovens in my smaller sized kitchen.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great features - but missing an important feature

This is a great product, but on many occasions I have left one of the cooktop gas burners still on (at a simmer) - It would be great, as a low lit burner is almost invisible, to have a light on the display panel indicating any burners are still on.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great features BUT

we like our Profile dual fuel slide in range oven. However the griddle over the center oval burner is clearly inferior. It is supposed to be non stick, but this aspect only last for (literally) a few weeks. It then starts to have food (eggs) stick followed by flacking off of the coating even in the grooves meant to catch grease. I had to replace the first one at significant cost. The second performed no better! A significant flaw in an otherwise great appliance.

Response from geappliances.comBy Joyce@GEAGE_AppliancesJanuary 11, 2021
Hello Eaton- Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are very sorry to hear you are having this issue with your griddle. Before using the griddle it is really important that you rinse it with hot water and dry thoroughly. Always be sure to prepare the surface with cooking spray or vegetable oil. Please review page 12 in your manual. https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-85217-2.pdf If you did do this with your griddle, please reach out to us via email. Please visit the following link and scroll down to the email contact form: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/contact-others.htm. Please be sure to include a copy of your review, your name, address, phone number and the model and serial numbers for your appliance. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to assisting you further. Joyce@GEA

Love this range!

This range "feels good." The components, grates, doors, griddle, etc. are solid. The cook top is easy to clean. The full surface design of the grates makes it easy to slide pots on and off of the flames. The griddle works well and is easy to clean. There is some unevenness in the heat distribution in the oven. I've noticed that trays of cookies finish at different rates both while using the convection and regular oven settings. Not a major problem. The convection setting is faster and baking batches of cookies on multiple racks is a breeze. One design complaint, I sometimes lean on the front controls and set the oven on. It requires a confirmation push to begin the setting or to cancel.

Great rangetop-Jury still out on oven
on April 1, 2014

This range replaced a GE JSP48GJ so it had a lot to do to impress me!! The old range had modular units for the top that included a griddle and a grill. This range did yeoman's duty for our holiday dinners and traditional Sunday breakfasts. Self-cleaning was a joy. While the cooking elements were replaced many times and the solenoid for the self-cleaning oven was replaced three times, we hated to part with the JSP.
The glass ceramic cooktop on the Café range has a sleek look and heats up quickly and cleans beautifully. Partly because the burners control heat so well, I haven't yet had a spill that wasn't easily cleaned up. (I am using the Ceramabryte cleaner that came with the range.)
Now, about the ovens. First, I love the lower cooking oven. It's perfect for a tray of biscuits which need to cook at a different temperature than the rest of the meal.
The main oven is very large and will hold my largest roaster as well as a couple of smaller casserole dishes. I have yet to find a use for the convection oven. (I have not made cookies as was recommended.) Convection baking dried out roasts, buns, and cakes and took longer to do it.
Some serious flaws with the oven lead me to wonder who designed this? and did the designer consult a real cook?
1. The meat probe seems to record internal temperature accurately, but when the set temperature is reached, the oven turns off. Who stops cooking EVERYTHING when the meat is done and, presumable resting?
2. The oven turns off at the slightest touch with only a muted beep for a warning. In a busy kitchen with more than one thing happening, the oven can be turned off for a half hour before the cook knows about it.
3. The cleaning cycle is very long at 4-5 hours for a full cycle. It does not clean as thoroughly as my old range, leaving the window and some oven surfaces still dirty. AND a. The oven light burns out with each cleaning cycle. b. Nothing else on the range works during the cleaning cycle. Who can schedule their time so that they don't have to use the cooktop for 4 hours?
Overall, the rating for this range is only average and I willingly paid much more than an average price based on my long love affair with my old GE ranges - all of them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
