Beautiful stove, great features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This stove is absolutely gorgeous and performs great. I will say you must wipe down grates and stainless top to keep it pristine, but this is the case with any appliance you want to keep looking nice. Bottom drawer of stove takes a while to warm up, but is a convenience if you have several dishes cooking at once. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to modernize their kitchen with a professional-looking stove. You will possibly need a plumber to measure the stove and rearrange the pipes and electric connection behind your stove to ensure the stove does not stick out too far from the wall.

Great overall, a few annoying aspects

I bought this stove after a lot of research and it had MOST of the features I wanted at a price I was willing to pay. Dual fuel, five burners, temperature probe, nice robust appearance, second oven, and power burners, to name a few. I've enjoyed cooking with it and do recommend it as a very nice stove.
The most annoying thing is the short length of the temperature probe. Clearly the engineer who designed it never actually tried to use it. It works OK but you have to work around the length to find a position close enough to the probe connection. The book recommends cooking roasts on the lowest grate but that means you have to push the roast to the left instead of in the center of the oven. The Non-GE oven I had before had a nice long probe and I never had a problem. Another six inches of cable would make a big difference but GE doesn't appear to sell a longer probe.
The other thing you have to cope with is the easily scratched stainless steel top. It looks great but they should have used a more textured pattern to something less prone to scratching. I knew this from other reviewers before I bought the stove and I am OK with it but not sure it's a great design feature.
The feature it SHOULD have but doesnt is bread proofing. My old oven had it. In my case I got the Advantium microwave with this stove and it has proofing so I still got the feature, just not in the range.
I am happy overall with my purchase and don't think I would pick another brand within my budget.

Love this range!

I love everything about my new range, which replaced a 30 yr. old drop in elec. oven. There is one thing about this oven I didn't realize, which is that the fan comes on when you set it above 350 degrees, and is somewhat noisy. It stays on after you turn oven off until it has cooled down, so if you eat in the kitchen it takes a little getting used to but overall it is great.

Due to quality, don't recommend

Bought this range at the same time we bought the "matching" microwave/convection oven and at first were delighted with both. This range had almost everything I wanted, including dual fuel, five burners, two ovens, the main oven very large, slide-in model and over all appearance. However, it broken within a year. It was fortunately under warranty, and if that was the end of it I wouldn't be writing this review. But microwave.convection oven just now died and cannot be fixed, 18 months after purchase. That makes both higher-end GE Cafe appliances didn't hold up more than a year, or a year and a half. Our money that we slave to earn couldn't buy us quality, which I was counting on. Although many people spent a lot more on appliances, these items were not cheap. And now I'm letting people know my experience with GE products.

Once you go convection you'll never go back!

I purchased the GE Cafe electric convection range a few months back and absolutely love it! The double oven option is definitely worth the extra money! For example, this past Easter (April 2014) I baked a full ham in the main oven while cooking casseroles in the oven drawer. We originally were looking at buying a double oven but I wanted one large space for hams or turkeys and a smaller space to cook side items. Note: this is not just a warming drawer. It actually bakes up to 450°. The convection bakes extremely even! Best cookies and cakes! Oh, and there is a built in meat thermometer! You just plug it into the I sode of the oven then program for the oven to beef once it hits the desired temp! Tons of great features! Oh, and we have a toddler so the "range lock out" (childproof feature that disables key pad) is a life saver! Easy to turn on and off. I could go on and on. Love this stove!

Control Panel Sensitivity
on December 4, 2014

Been using this range for about 3 months. Turkey cooked via convection w/probe and it came out good. Don't like that the oven turns off when probe temp is reached and the timer ding is not loud. The cooktop does heat up fast, visually, but doesn't start heating the pot quickly enough like radiant rings. When ingredients do start getting hot (boiling) the pot has to taken away from the burner area because the glass cooktop does not cool fast. Watch what you want to bring up to a boil and stop because the cooktop does retain heat for a pretty long time. Turning down the burner does not reduce heat quickly. Also, the front control panel is too sensitive. Slightest brush with hand, stomach or anything else will effect a response from the keypad. Do like the bold stainless knobs. The cooktop lockout feature is not identified in the owner manual until the back of the manual and then under special features. As sensitive as the control panel is the lock is a great feature but doesn't always unlock as the directions say. Sometimes have to press selected buttons on keypad several times before the unlock is activated. Also, for a high end range the keypad should have been backlighted because it is flat and difficult to see unless bent down to its level. The companion 30 in built in Cafe convection oven has a similar keypad and it too should have a backlight. Finally, the owners manual is printed on brown recycled paper that doesn't fit the premium price paid for this oven. The GE microwave purchased to complement the Cafe ovens is printed on white, easy to read paper. Overall, like the looks of the range, but it does have some quirks some people can't overlook and maybe should opt for lower priced GE products with similar features.

Great but be aware of a couple of things.

I have owned the GE Cafe Dual Fuel range for about 18 months. Not only does it look good, it performs very well. I love the flexibility of the 5 burners, the griddle option, and the quick boil. The oven is very spacious and the oven drawer is awesome for those few times that you need the extra oven space. Do keep in mind that the stainless steel cooktop scratches very easily especially if the cast iron grills touch the surface when you are gently cleaning the cooktop surface or you are changing out the center grill for the griddle or if a metal utensil brushes against the space in front of the burners. The second concern is that the left burner often stops flaming if turned all the way to the lowest setting. Finally the space between the counter and the slide in oven ends up being a great place for crumbs to gather and is hard to keep clean.

Love everything!

I am enjoying everything about this appliance! With the "turbo" burner, I can boil water in no time at all! We actually use the small lower oven more than the larger so far, It's great not to heat the whole kitchen during the summer heat.
