I wanted a simple,but a good quality dryer without all the bells and whistle,
which can lead to costly repairs. Having used GE products in the past, I know I can rely on a good quality product at a reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Worried that the low cost meant "Low Performance"

Well, I bought this initially out of desperation after a debacle with another brand that was"OUT OF STOCK" during holiday promotions, so, I hit the internet and spent another 4 hours perusing the WWW for ANYTHING worth a darn that I could get in a jif (we hadn't had a W/D for weeks in a HH of 6! YEP, I was DESPERATE!) So, I stumbled onto this little gem on a big name store site and started looking for info.. reviewed? CHECK! DECENT REVIEWS? CHECK! I do not have to sell my first born for it? CHECK! Bought and DONE!
Now, 2 weeks later I have put this through the ringer and am very pleased to say I feel like a WINNER! The controls are easy to figure out and I do not need a college degree or have to work for NASA to get it going! It took me about 15 minutes to setup myself and get drying. It is quite spacious for its size, 7.2 cu, and is really quiet when running. There are enough settings to be very precise if that is what ya need; I just want it to dry as quickly as possible, which it does! It is HE and sensor ready; I placed a huge load of towels in for 50 minutes and it cut off at 35 minutes.

I can turn off the things that annoy me, ie, buzzer, sensor dry, etc.

CONS:
1) it has a REALLY small lint filter, and in a house with 3 shedders (dogs), it fills up pretty darn quick..
2) The knobs do feel a little chintzy, but that it just because I have males in the house that are rough on things...I will update if anything happens
But, I digress..if these are the ONLY things I have to complain about, I am in heaven! The other dryer I had was an 8.0 capacity with a sensor that NEVER dried anything the first time and quit after years.. The money paid, less than MSRP, was WELL worth it.

I hate this dryer

This dryer dries very well, but the lint trap system is a mess. The lint trap fits into a sleeve that fills up with lint. I have to vacuum it out after every load just to keep the next load from getting all the lint from the previous, but that doesn't work very well. We have to use duct tape to remove the lint from our clothes after drying them in this machine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sensi-dry feature does not work

The sensi-dry feature does not work! It dries the clothes, but does not sense that they are done and therefore, never signals that the clothes are done. The dryer just keeps running endlessly, even though the clothes are dry!

My new love

We just bought it and I already love it. This dryer is very quiet and drying clothes so quickly (My old gas dryer did this work longer). Additionally, this dryer is very roomy so that is why it drying faster than dryers with smaller drums. I do not trust the touch control panels because they break quickly and are expensive to repair. This dryer has everything you need for perfect drying of clothes without demanding it. What is very important. Love GE. Their appliances are always high quality and long lifetime work. The next step will be renovate kitchen and refresh it with GE appliances. I am so excited.

Opening the doo requires holding the dryer in place...it is very difficult to open. Basically pulls the dryer a foot across the floor if you don't brace it.

Very poor performing appliance

This dryer takes an inordinate amount of time to dry even a small load. My last dryer, which was over 15 years old and a SMALLER capacity than this 7.2 cu foot new dryer, would dry clothes much faster. Larger loads take almost 2 full cycles to fully dry the clothes. I'm very dissatisfied with this GE dryer and would not recommend it to anyone.
