I purchased this dryer a couple of months ago and am mostly pleased. It dries surprisingly quickly! The buzzer is just annoying enough so I am not inclined to ignore it, but you can turn it off if you prefer. I have only 2 complaints - it leaves pet hair on the clothes that I must manually remove, and if you leave something like a tissue in a pocket, the little wads of paper are next to impossible to remove from the lint trap compartment. If it were just a little wider, it was be easier to remove these bits from the bottom of the compartment. Otherwise, so far, so good. I haven't owned it long enough to know if it will stand the test of time.

Great other than the lint filter

We bought this set almost 2 months ago to replace another set of GEs that are 15+ years old, which our son is still using. I really like this dryer other than the lint filter. I remove it and clean it after each load and I'm afraid it is going to break because it is narrow, difficult to remove and quite flimsy. My last GE dryer's lint filter was great and I could actually reach down in after removing the filter and get the excess in the bottom that had gotten by the filter, so it wouldn't get down in and clog the dryer hose or become a fire hazard. I can't do that with this one. Other than the filter I really like this dryer because of the large capacity and I haven't had a problem yet. We've had good luck with GE appliances and really like them. We did lots of research before buying new and decided on GE again.

The initial dryer would not stay running after the start key was released. 2nd seems to work fine

Excellent drying time

We bought this in December. Love it so far. It's drying time is quick. The lint catcher is difficult to pull out. That's our only complain.

Replacement dryer for previous model

GE replaced this dryer for a previous model; a few months old with drum filter design problem-it caused lint to fill the drum and clothes were full of lint every time it was used.. The problem is this replacement dryer in effect cost me over $1,000.00 including the original purchase and replacement purchase cost. GE delivery took the previous model upon delivery. My regret is purchasing GE products, but this will NEVER happen again. The original washer was replaced as well at two month old. The store was gracious enough to replace it, no charge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

LINT TRAP ISSUE PREVENTS 5-STAR

Great dryer except for one odd issue - the lint trap seems gets stuck every time we try to remove it. End up having to shimmy it out... the part seems too big for the slot, or perhaps is made of a material that swells when it's hot. Anyway, this is a 5-star dryer with a 1-star lint trap. GE, if you can provide advice or a solution, I would happily amend this post!

Good features, but bad dryer sensor

I bought this unit three months ago and I called GE service three times to fix the dryer sensor. The little module for the dryer sensor went bad within two months. After researching, I found that this is a bad design from GE to include a dryer sensor control for this model which is a small computer board.
It appears that the dryers with thermostat based controllers are much reliable for long term than the little computer boards.
