Whisper Quiet!

Ok, I want to start off saying that I read some reviews that said that this is very quiet. I was skeptical as I haven't heard many quiet dishwashers. Those reviews weren't lying. This is very quiet. My wife turned it on while we were still downstairs together. With tv noise and kids you cannot hear it at all. Without those noises I can still barely hear it. Usually with dishwashers I have had in the past, I would have to turn up the tv to hear over the loud noise. With this, I can't tell that it is on.
A great feature that we like is the third top shelf for bigger spoons and other big kitchen utensils. Makes it easy to place them in there without trying to find that special spot. I uses a different drying method that some say doesn't dry their dishes well, but we haven't had any issues with that. Perhaps its the cleaner stuff that we use that helps, but either way we haven't had problems. The middle shelf also is able to move up or down which is nice when the bigger pots and pans are placed in the bottom. The water sprayer is also at the very bottom so no need to fight with shelves getting stuck on pots and pans when you pull the shelf out.
The black stainless steal is amazing. Kids touch it all the time with little to no finger prints or smudges. And if it does get a little dirty, just a damp rag wipe over and its clean. No need for chemicals or special wipes (it also says in the instructions not to use anything like that because its not good for the finish). I would definitely recommend this dishwasher. I can tell that the design was carefully thought through as this dishwasher is very user friendly. Many different settings for types of wash and dry. This is still very quiet on each of the settings that we have used.
Pros: Style/Design, Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Washes well, but features are poor
on July 21, 2014

This dishwasher is so quiet you don't even know it is running. However, the features are so poor it cannot be overlooked, especially when they result in broken dishes. The bottom tray has movable prongs to allow for better loading; however they do not lock and fall down when loaded. The bottom tray does not stay on the track EVER. When it is pulled out it will come off the track, the prong rows fall, and dishes topple onto each other and get chipped or broken. We have lost more dishes in our first few months with this dishwasher than we did in years with our older louder model. The steam feature which boasts cleaning food off dishes is not even close. The food does not get washed off and then gets baked on during the drying cycle. The dishwasher seems well made and will hopefully last for many years. Now if I could just find some wheel replacements to keep it on the tracks!

Great dishwasher, but racks rust quickly
on February 13, 2022

I purchased this dishwasher March 2016 since it was the highest rated on Consumer Reports. The steam washing technology was top of it's class at the time, and it was great at getting even tough grease off cookware. However, in just one year I noticed rust appearing on the front of the top rack, and as time went on more spots were showing rust. It appears the design of the racks in this system were poorly suited for the high pressure/high temperature water the dishwasher uses. The rack's steel is covered by some sort of plastic resin to keep the underlying steel mesh from being damaged or scratching dishes during washing. Instead, the steam wears down the coating on the racks exposing the steel. This causes two issues. 1 the racks start to rust and degrade, you don't want to get rust on things you'll cook, eat, and drink from. 2nd, the exposed steel starts to damage in the wash. I've found pyrex glass storage bowls cracked, as well as glass ware being cracked after being washed in this unit.
The dishwasher is very expensive, so I'm disappointed LG hasn't acknowledge this issue and offered correct replacement racks to customers.

Love the basics but.....

I loved look and the hidden controls. I also like the top rack for large utensils. What I don't like is the mechansim that holds the tines in place on the lower rack are very weak and fall over everytime I put a bowl there. The manuel states that the plates should be in an upright postion for best cleaning results. The problem is the tines are so short that the plates fall over every load. The other problem is the way the tines are situated the plates do not sit evenly in the rack wasting space

Rusting terribly

Bought this this LG inverter dishwasher because LG is supposed to be a good name of course just past warenty, top rack is so rusted is falling apart, sides also rusted so spending money to buy new racks will be waste of money. Totally disappointed in it. I would have hoped it would last more than five years. I will never buy another one.

Great product; rusting racks
on November 14, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great dishwasher- works great. Bad quality racks that rusted in multiple places; rust clogging drain, causing drain pump to fail.
I wish they give high quality stainless steel racks instead of plastic coated racks that fail so easily.
I feel bad to rate quality of dishwasher bad, for the racks being bad quality. But then I will have to spend hundreds of dollars replacing racks or buy a new machine - my choices after buying are limited to bad and .

Another Dishwasher Rack Rusting Review
on November 1, 2022

Again, a dishwasher rack rusting review. Clearly a manufacturing issue, very frustrating as this is a seemingly nice dishwasher. LG please replace rusting dishwasher racks and plan to produce additional for all the customers who will need to have them replaced.
Pros: Performance, easy to use
