Definitely not made to last

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought my washer in 2012. The first thing to make an impression on me was that before the washer even starts adding water, the drum turns--supposedly to distribute the load. What it did was put my clothes into a tight ball, so I had to bypass this by waiting until the water turned on before I Put them in. As mentioned in other reviews, the water level (unless you use the feature to add more, right from the start) isn't sufficient to wash clothes. My problem, too, is pet hair, so that extremely low water level only spread it amongst all clothes but didn't remove it. On the rare occasion when I had dirty, gritty clothes--after the 'wash' when removing the clothes, the dirt was still there, albeit usually on the bottom of the drum which required me to clean it out before the next load. I will say that I like the speed with which it spins to drain. What I didn't like was that exactly one month after the warranty expired, it started leaking from the bottom that required New parts. About eight months later it just suddenly stopped draining water. I was grateful this was not a front loader as it took a full week for a repairman to come. It needed more new parts. And so here I am--the washer is leaking water from the bottom again and I am certain the mother board is going because it is filling the washer to maximum height even with a small load. I've already spent enough on repairs and service calls to almost equal what I paid, so I'm cutting my losses. Whichever new washer I choose will definitely NOT be an LG. What I would give to have my old (non-motherboard!) washer back!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought the LG set of washer and dryer because highly rated through CR. Read manual, used right soap. Did great for about a year and half to 2 years when started with the unbalanced load issue that seems to have plagued many LG/high efficency washers by reviews. Made sure balanced and tried everything from smaller loads, manually readjusting load, varying speeds for spin cycle, etc. Eventually, it got bad enough that it took several days to wash one load if left unchecked. Mercifully, it died completely when the tub broke loose and the machine tried to walk out of the room. I have never purchased LG before and likely will not go back. On the brighter side, the drier (gas) has worked well. Not sure why the website will not let me post without agreeing to sweepstakes entry.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this for just over five years. After about two years I began noticing very fine debris in my laundry and in the tub. This happened to be the top of the washer deteriorating (rusting) and the coating flaking into the wash along with the rust. This should never have happened since I don't use a bleaching product in my wash!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love certain settings and others could be better. I would rather have all water settings as a choice on all cycles. I would like to have hot water choice on the short wash. It also needs an alarm when it is out of balance.
Pros: Performance

Large capacity, good results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very good washer. There are two things I wish were different. First, I often have to manually reduce the spin cycle speed because it is very strong; otherwise, the load ends up being off-balance. Second, if the load becomes uneven and the washer resets itself to add more water to get the load re-balanced, the overall run time to complete the load is very long. Overall, still a good washer.
Pros: Performance, Quality, easy to use
