Rusted in second year

We bought this washer in September 2012 and noticed rust accumulating around the bleach dispenser sometime in the second or third year. We have noticed there are possibly some class action suits regarding this issue as it seems to be universal to this model. The issue is just now becoming a problem with rust flakes getting in our laundry. We will not purchase LG again.

Mold and falling apart

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The bottom plate keeps coming unconnected in the middle of washes. We have also had lots of problems with continuous mold. No matter how much we clean, air it out, maintain, etc., we deal with constant mold and not getting clothes cleaned. If I could give zero stars I would.

This has to be one of the worst washer ever built. I do not have anything nice to say about it and it doesn't have any redeeming qualities. The washer cannot handle large loads, it wastes water, it is always uneven, it doesnt clean anything and takes hours to run thru a cycle. About the only thing its good at is twisting your clothes into knots and ruining them.
You constantly have to monitor each cycle to make sure the clothes actually get wet and are washed. The other half of the time its gets off balanced and displays UE for hours. If you do not correct the UE error manually, it just keeps filling with water over and over to try to correct itself.
Just beware and do not buy this washer. Its a huge waste of time and money. The company LG should refund my purchase price..... im waiting

How to Get the Best Results from a HE Top Load Washer: Always use a laundry detergent with the HE label. These products are formulated to create fewer suds which is important since so much less water is used. More is not better when there is less water in the mix. Most loads only require one to two teaspoons of HE liquid laundry detergent or one single-dose pack. If you do not use the automatic detergent dispensers, place the detergent in the bottom of the drum BEFORE you add your dirty clothes. All single dose laundry packs must be placed in the bottom of the washer - never the dispenser. This will give the detergent the longest amount of time in the water to help get your clothes clean. When you load a HE top load washer, do not pile the clothes in the center. Evenly distribute the dirty clothes around the edges of the wash plate. This will help balance the load more quickly and speed the wash cycle. For best performance, load clothes as shown in manual on page 14. Load clothes loosely, and do not load clothes over the maximum guideline on the tub. Clothes need room to circulate in order to get clean. Poor agitation, always unbalanced.

I’ve had this for a few years and am the most disappointed I’ve ever been. There is little to no agitation no matter the load size, and you clearly can not do large loads as they get out of balance all the time. Even with loading the tub based on the instructions. Can’t wait for a few commission checks to replace it. Top loaders do not save water when it loads the tub with water to manage the imbalance. ... and it does it all the time!

I CANNOT WAIT TO GET RID OF THIS WASHER

THIS IS THE MOST USELESS WASHER. I am so disappointed in this purchase. I keep wishing it would break so I can get a new washing machine. I look through the door and see it doesn't even fully wet my clothes while they are "washing", my towels smell, stains remain, nothing smells clean, no agitation power at all! I purchased this washer with excitement to fit my comforters. I have to trick the washer by adding water and unplugging it EVERY TIME to soak my clothing. I even go to use my mother's old agitator washer to get a deep clean for my whites. Can't wait to sell my house so I can leave this set behind!

WORSE WASHER!

Washer is very noisy, does not spin all the water out of clothes, towels, anything! And leaves disgusting little pieces of brown, oily gunk on what you've washed. Each repairman stated it's the design of the washer. I clean out the tray on the top and use washing machine cleaning tablets, but nothing works. It's gross.

Crapiest washing machine EVER built

This was a gift from my now deceased father in law and that is the only reason why I haven't drug it into my front yard for all the neighborhood to see and smashed it to bits with a sledge hammer. It fouls up every time I use it. I have to stand there and watch it or it will take hours to wash a load, constantly refilling itself with water to get the load balanced just right.

Uses way more water than it claims

when out of balance just adds water. Have to stand over it during spin cycles. Our water bill went way up. Going to buy the old reliable standard washer. Not an LG brand.
