5 yrs old. Still works except annoying door lock e

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This washer is ok. But, its mediocre. My hinges have rusted when opening the door. And, my lock is malfunctioning on this washer too. I constantly get door lock error. I expect my control board to go out any day now. And, the wash cycles take forever. However, I get a good amount of water. But, only bc I bypassed the water system. I installed a whole house water system just to my washing machine only. I get tons of water since I did that 4 yrs ago. I have the filter system only on the cold water side bc I don't need it on the hot water side since sediment sits in the tank. So, my water line runs from my washing machine to the water filter system, and then I have another water line from the filter to the water valve on my wall. The water comes in from the valve. Goes through the filter, and then goes to my washing machine. That 20 dollar filter system saved me so much. I wasn't getting any water before. Now, I get a large amount of water every time I use my machine. But, I'm not satisfied. I used to get error codes on how I loaded it too. But, you just need to make sure you are loading it correctly. All the clothes go on the outer edge of the washing machine. Keep the center open. And, put heavy clothes on top. However, a lot of times I cheat. I throw the clothes in and make a hole. I try to keep the clothes level on all sides so it doesn't get top heavy. And, pillows. Forget about loading them on their sides. Just put the pillows in a jinga game formation across the agitator. That is the only way pillows will wash. Oh, and blankets always when done are formed in a blanket formation over the center low profile impeller or what ever you call it as am fyi. It just does that every time. But, they are clean. Also, I did the capacity of the washer cylinder calculation and it's not 4.7 cu ft. Lg is deceiving you on the capacity. It's really barely 4.1 cubic feet. Volume of a washer drum is the radius in feet to the second power times the height in ft times pie or 3.14. If you do the measurements of (18.5 inches high divided by 12inches of the stainless steel) x (11inches the radius divided by 12inches and then take that answer to the second power) x (and finally multiply by 3.14 or pie)=4.07 cubic ft. That is way off from 4.7 cubic feet. And, I doubled checked my calculations. They are correct bc I only measured the stainless steel drums diameter and divided in half to get my radius of the drum, and the height in inches and converted to feet. But, besides all that I have Grown to hate this washer. Good thing I am buying a new washer. And, this time I think I want a front load. Maybe to avoid some of the off balance issue. Idk. But, I don't believe fixing my door lock is worth fixing bc the amount i pay with labor will be half of what I paid for this when new. And, it had to fail after my 5 yr warranty ended too.

I thought the idea of this washer was great! In reality it’s a terrible FAILURE!! I’ve had it for about 5 years and still can’t figure it out. You have to wash by weight. All heavy things together. All lightweight things together. Sounds easy enough. 9 times out of ten I have to redistribute the clothes again and again because the washer stops and and error code appears. It may take several hours to do one load of wash. I hate this machine with a passion! Do not buy!!!!

How to Get the Best Results from a HE Top Load Washer: Always use a laundry detergent with the HE label. These products are formulated to create fewer suds which is important since so much less water is used. More is not better when there is less water in the mix. Most loads only require one to two teaspoons of HE liquid laundry detergent or one single-dose pack. If you do not use the automatic detergent dispensers, place the detergent in the bottom of the drum BEFORE you add your dirty clothes. All single dose laundry packs must be placed in the bottom of the washer - never the dispenser. This will give the detergent the longest amount of time in the water to help get your clothes clean. When you load a HE top load washer, do not pile the clothes in the center. Evenly distribute the dirty clothes around the edges of the wash plate. This will help balance the load more quickly and speed the wash cycle. For best performance, load clothes as shown in manual on page 14. Load clothes loosely, and do not load clothes over the maximum guideline on the tub. Clothes need room to circulate in order to get clean. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read the reviews say don’t buy this because it won’t clean thing or takes too long or doesn’t wet the clothes or it’s too complicated. I’m not sure what’s up with any of that because I’ve had mine since December 2010 and the only issue was self inflicted. We had a coin in clothes that got stuck in the drum affecting the rotation. Easy fix and back to normal operation. We have had nothing to complain about with it’s operation or features

It was fine for the first few years now it gives us an error code ue and stops spinning unless we put under half capacity. Kind of a pain seems how we bought it for the large drum it has. Also, it’s a bummer when you come back to change it just to find out it stopped washing because of the code. Had a repair guy out and said it couldn’t be fixed.
