Never ending UE code!!

I bought this for it's large size and nice design. I get the uE or UE code with every load I wash. Two years after I bought it they replace the rotor, stator, and computer board. Now a year later and it has all the same problems again!! With the uE code coming up that is for unbalanced load. The load is actually balanced just fine somethign is just wrong with it. It can take me 24 hours to get one load of laundry done. This is not efficient at all.....it wastes a ton of water and makes our bill high. I am not even sure how well the wash cycle is even cleaning the clothes either. Please LG replace these useless units for us. The matching dryers seem to work fine...especially give the add load they get from the washer not spinning correctly. I called LG and they said they will cover parts under the warranty but we have to pay labor...well I feel I should not have to pay anything considering the is an ongoing problem that many many people have. Please LG do the right thing for your customers that bought this lemon!

Terrible product!

Worst washer I have ever had!! Loads take forever to wash. Agitation is poor, which means I often have to re-rinse a load of black clothing, as soap residue remains after the cycle is completed. Towels have been snagged. Sanitary wash cycle doesn't get extra hot as it is supposed to, and takes 3 hrs!!! Really disappointed in this product. It has all the 'bells and whistles', but underperforms in its basic function, ie to clean clothes well, within a reasonable period of time.

Nightmare!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The LG model wt5070cw washer is complete junk! It has been displaying an UE error code since the first load. The UE problem has only gotten worse. Don't believe the positive reviews on this site. Go search the web and you will find countless others who are having the same problem. LG knows this washer needs a software update and a new rotor to fix the problem, but they refuse to make it right with their customers.

This product takes way to long to wash clothes.

I needed a new machine and researched this product in Consumer Reports. I thought it was the machine for me. After using it however, I am not convinced it was a good purchase. My clothes do not come out clean. I have watched this machine work through the glass top and it just doesn't seem to use enough water. The clothes are never covered entirely with water, so how can they get clean? The wave process doesn't seem to move enough to clean the clothes. It's great for the large capcity, it's quiet, and spins the clothes great but I am sorry I bought it.
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use

Awful washing machine!!!

I wish I could give this NO STARS! I will say it washes well.Taking over an hour for each load, which is a bit ridiculous. But...it goes out of balance way too often no matter the size of the load, and being a so called high efficacy washer its a joke. When it goes out of balance it tries to correct itself, spins, goes out of balance, drains the water and refills.. So there goes my whole weekend just to do 3 loads of clothes, towels and bedding.

Do not buy this washer!

I have had this washer for less than two years. I have had continual problems with UE codes and unbalanced loads. It does not matter if I have a small load or a large load. When unbalance, the washer will repeatedly fill with water and drain to try to rebalance. It wastes a tremendous amount of water and time. I've had loads take three hours to wash and that includes me rebalancing the load by hand several times. The software was replaced once under the one year warranty. Now I will have to pay for additional repairs - no thank you! Also, the water drain holes are so small that grass or other small particles can not drain away from the clothes so loads are never completely clean. I am going to replace this machine with another brand.

takes way too long to do laundry now

I am not a fan of so called high efficiency appliances. These are sold by the same people who want to tell you that spending more money will bring down the deficit and cold temperatures are caused by global warming. And now they expect you to believe that less water makes clothes cleaner. Sorry but not true. This machine takes twice as long as my old one. Between washing and drying it now takes nearly 2 and a half hours to do a load of laundry, not taking into consideration that I usually have to run each load twice to get it cleaned and rinsed. I do use the HE detergent pods, so I know I am not using too much detergent. I do not do large loads, either. 6 or seven bath towels max. My husband even thinks the loads I do are too small. The clothes also twist up in tight spirals that not only do not get clean, but also wear out the clothing much faster. I had to use iron on patches on my sweatpants after 3 months of getting this machine. My main reason for reviewing is that it seems a disproportionate number of loads are "uneven", and the little alarm that goes off is so quiet I never hear it from the basement. I go down 2 hours later expecting to rotate loads, and have to readjust and restart. It has taken me 3 days to change the sheets and blankets on my bed. 1 set of sheets, 3 blankets. Ridiculous. That being said your agents are very courteous so that is a plus. Also the only reason I bought this washer was that there were no large capacity choices, otherwise I would have gone with a traditional washer, which was easier on my clothes, got them cleaner used less electricity and less water and way less time. Sorry LG. This is not just your company. Maybe you should get off the "eco" bandwagon.. Seems like every feature advertised (such as gentle on clothes, uses less water etc.) is the exact opposite

Well worth it, just one minor gripe
on June 21, 2012

We've owned this washer (and matching 5101 dryer) for just under a month. Just wow!
It is very quiet, easy to run, and does a great job of washing the clothes. 4.5 Cu Ft capacity is bigger than you think! We are a family of five (wife and I, 16/19/22 yr olds) and we can wash a weeks worth of jeans or whites in one load with lots of room to spare instead of breaking it up into two smaller loads.
My minor gripe is that this model does not have a Delicate setting. The model above this (WT5170CW) and the model below this (WT4801CW) have the setting. For some reason LG decided to replace the Delicate setting with a Wool setting when 'stepping up' from the 4801. The 5170 has both. I believe delicates are way more popular than wool but whatever.
I reviewed the cycle guide in manual for this model and the 5170. On this model, if you use the Wool setting and set the water temp to cold, you have the delicate setting of the 5170.
You can also set up a custom setting if doing that every time is too annoying or if you might forget.
Other than that, awesome product!
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Quality
