Unbalanced Loads
on September 30, 2017
Posted by: Beags

I bought this machine 2 years ago and spent countless hours yelling at it. About 80% of the time it shows UE for an unbalanced load. I had it repaired within the first 4 months and it subsided for a couple months and then came back like a bad habit. Save yourself the headache and don't purchase this machine.

Terrible machine
on December 1, 2014

I will state that this machine is very quiet. It does not shake and rattle my house even though it is situated in an upstairs laundry room. It is also pretty to look at. Other than those two characteristics it is awful.
First, you cannot take advantage of the large capacity because it always goes off balance. It takes a degree in rocket science to load it so it doesn't become off balance, so now my kids can't help with the laundry. I have tried 4 and 5 times to get some loads to balance and have read the directions multiple times. It is impossible to "correctly" load.
Secondly, sheets and towels become so twisted and contorted that they become damaged. I cannot mix sheets or towels with any clothing so I have to do MORE loads.
Also, I have found spots of detergent left on clothing and simple drool marks left on sheets. If it cannot remove drool, then what is it able to clean?
Finally, it also has significant water left in the detergent drawer and bleach compartment that create a musty, moldy smell in my entire laundry room. I have to manually dry the compartments out after each load.
Additionally, since there is no delicate or small load you cannot wash just one item.
My last machine was the cheapest, lowest end machine offered and worked like a horse. This was supposed to be an upgrade. I would love to have that old machine back!!!

This product is efficient and quiet

I recently purchased the LG WT4801CW top loader washing machine after much research on the product. I purchased it based on the recommendations of the salespeople and reviews that I read online. After two months of using the washer, I find it to be efficient and quiet. I like the fact that it is able to predict the weight of the clothes to determine the water level. It is far more efficient than the my old washer and much more quiet.
Pros: Performance, easy to use

Great features, easy to use

There's a cycle for any and all items. You can also customize for even greater choices. Clothes come out with so little water that they dry much faster. I've had no issues with sheets or clothes tangling. All wrinkles from the spin cycle come out naturally during drying. This happens even if clothing is hung up slightly damp to finish air drying, as I usually do with most of my jeans and tops. Best washer I've ever had.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Does Not Get Dirt and Stains Out
on December 13, 2012

I replaced my agitator washer with this high efficiency washer. I am very disappointed that this washer doesn't get clothes very clean because it uses little water and doesn't move the clothes around very much. I have an active son who gets his clothes dirty so this has been a disappointment for me. I guess that many of our clothes will never look clean again. I even use two pods per load to see if that would help get clothes cleaner, but it doesn't help.
Pros: easy to use, Features/Settings

Takes a loooooooong time for one load
on December 14, 2012

I understand that HE washers take longer based on less water/detergent, but for a large load that nearly fills the washer, it takes nearly 2 hours to wash in the wool cycle, which is supposed to approximate delicates. I guess I'd rather wash smaller loads more frequently, so it doesn't take as long, but then that defeats the purpose of having such a large capacity washer! I find it ridiculous that a top of the line washer has no delicate cycle. So I use the wool cycle and put the temperature to tap cold instead of the warm used for that cycle. Also, I'm 5'2" tall. When I'm emptying the washer, the clothes at the bottom are extremely hard for me to reach, and I have to lay my stomach on the washer and sort of do a head dive into the washer to reach the final pieces. I wish it didn't make me feel so short. It's also a bit disconcerting, in case there might be left over bleach in the front bleach compartment, while I'm lying across the washer. I wish the bleach compartment was at the back, and the detergent was in the front cup. The detergent/softener cup at the rear has to be opened and closed to add detergent/softener. It feels flimsy and cheap, which is surprising, as everything else on this washer appears to be very solidly made. I also can't stand the end of cycle signal, as it plays a terrible little tune, but yet I still want to know when it's finished. Save yourself the money, and buy a cheaper model that can probably do the same job just as well and comes with a delicate cycle.
