Worst appliance I've every owned

I bought this as part of a set -- the dryer works great, but the washer is a piece of junk. As I write this, it is again on the third hour of a load of towels caused by numerous unbalanced load alarms, which cause the cycle to completely start over. A technician came out to fix this as it was a known problem, but if anything, it's worse now. If I could get it out of the house, I'd kick it to the curb!

AWFUL washing machine
on November 17, 2015

I have tried to like this washing machine but now I have to admit it's the worst purchase I ever made! It is horribly rough on my clothes, doesn't even get them clean and now I'm saving to replace it. I'm really surprised because I have liked other LG products - but this washer is a joke! When you wash towels or bedding, the items are so tightly wound up in each other that you can hardly remove them to the dryer. I also expected not to have to worry about the washer holding on to water in the bottom of the machine since it's a top loader, but that is also NOT the case. I always have to wipe out the machine after using it so as not to have a funky smell in the washer since there is often visible water in the bottom of the machine. I've never had a problem with any other washing machine I've owned over the years but this machine should go out to the junk even though it's only 6 months old. I absolutely
HATE it! You will be very sorry if you buy this machine! Trust me!

Longevity’s

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the WT5070CW in 2012. After 6 years a defect in the tub seal caused water to leak on the transmission, rusting it out. I thought it would last longer than 6 years. I will not buy another LG appliance. I also had a bad experience with a refrigerator.

Worse that worst!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a pair including the Top Loading High Efficiency WT5070CW washer approx 5 years ago. Right from the beginning, we could never wash a load without four or five unbalanced interruptions. When the unit fills, the water never gets above the clothes. If left alone, it will wash the clothes on top while dry. For a time, we used to pour pitchers of water in from the sink to fill the washer. Then we learned how to trick the washer into putting enough water in by shutting off the washer when the water stops filling and starting again from the beginning. That will double the water quantity. Problem is that sometimes we forget and miss the right opportunity and waste lots of time redoing. After five or more unbalanced error codes, we get frustrated and just decide to run spin only to get it over with. However, after two minutes on "Spin Only," it adds water, every time. To spin only, we have to run it for the two minutes while watching it and shut the washer off after about 2 minutes (before the water adds) and start the spin only again, for another 2 minutes.....multiple times. I have tried resetting the control unit a few times with no success. When we first got the washer, we couldn't believe this and called for warranty support. When the service man came out the second time, he said he would be happy to replace the control unit, but that it wouldn't help.....since this happens with all units of this model. We had him replace the controls anyway and nothing changed. We have finally had enough and are looking for a new washer starting today. You can bet that it won't be an LG from Best Buy.

Worst Washer Ever! Shame on you LG!!!

From the first wash, this machine was a lemon but the LG technical assistance said it was user error.
Well, it wasn’t!!! Years later of having to stand in the laundry room to babysit the washer while awaiting the UE error code!! Your customer service is awful and you knew this washer had a bad motherboard with no way of uploading and update! You should’ve offered those that purchased it a new motherboard!
WILL NEVER BUY LG AGAIN!!!

Worst Washer I have ever owned
on May 11, 2020

This is the worst washer I have ever owned. Tru Balance means it never balances! Apparently from trying to balance so many times the control board burnt out which was over 250.00 to replace. My washer is only 18 months old. After replacing the control board the washer was making a loud churning sound and was told I need to replace the clutch assembly which is another 150.00 and cannot guarantee the transmission will not brake when replacing and may be better off just getting a new washer. I will never buy LG again and am so disappointed.

"Auto" water level feature makes product useless
on April 25, 2023

from Folsom, Ca.
I have had this product for more than ten years and have been totally frustrated the whole time because the "auto water level feature" never provides enough water. I have paid to have it serviced and it still does not provide enough water. I have to use the "Bulky/bedding" cycle for all washes which fills to the top and is a total waste of water for normal or small loads.
