Super loud noises, not worth the money

I bought this refrigerator about five months ago. It is so loud over and above the normal running noise. Houseguests have made comments that it sounds like it's about to blow up or that it's sending a loud morse code message. It's embarrassing. I wanted to return it from where I bought it, but there was a 10% restocking fee. So I'm very unhappily stuck with it. It's so loud I have to turn up the TV when it starts making noise. I would not recommend this model to anyone. I own many other GE appliances and thought GE was better than this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Solid, basic refrigerator

It does what it's supposed to do. Replaced another brand's 16.8 cu.ft. model. The freezer on the 16.8 cu.ft. model was bigger! Perhaps some of the energy-saving comes from the smaller freezer? The food compartment is roomy & well-designed. I especially like the depth of the doors. They store a lot of items within easy reach. The noise factor is tolerable, and may seem noisier due to the longer run times of the motor. Exterior finish is just OK. The contour of the handles allows easy opening. Overall, this is a good, solid product.

Extremely disappointed in refrigerator

Since the day the refrigerator was delivered, I have been disappointed in its performance. The ice maker does not make scull in of ice and there only two adults using this refrigerator. The refrigerator is also very loud when it turns on. Sounds like a jet airplane taking off. I have had two service calls but no thing has approved the ice production or noise. I would like to return the unit to the dealer and purchase another product. No help there either. The really sad thing my husband, who is deceased sold GE appliances for over 30 years.

Owned GE Refrigerator 6 years and in that time: the frig’s door handle broke off and replaced TWOTIMES. The frig’s gasket tore apart and was replaced TWO TIMES. In the 6th year, the compressor malfunctioned. I replaced the refrigerator because of too many problems with that model.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was forced into my purchase when my Admiral, which was only a few years old :( , developed a leak. Like most people I am on a tight budget. This GE gave me everything I was looking for at a very fair price. While it is a bit smaller than my Admiral I think it will suit all my needs. It looks nice, runs quietly and offers great features.

Large capacity

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The fridge has alit of room inside. The temperature control is tricky. If you put it towards the coldest, the freezer is fine but the fridge freezes up your eggs! If you turn it down then the food don't feel as cold. You have to keep adjusting the temperature control. I have had it for two weeks and I am closer to a set temperature that keeps the fridge side just cold enough. Just a note, the first 4 days the fridge was making grumbling and screeching noises. It stopped after that but a technician said that its part of its operation.
