Great Wild Life Camera
on May 25, 2013

I use my cameras almost exclusively for wild life shots, often deep in the dry, dusty, bush of a country in Africa where little or no technical back up exists. One needs a product in this environment which delivers what it says it can and Canon always does. There is no room for fancy equipment/gizmo's that dazzle you in the shop and then fail you when the chips are down and you really need them... I started off a 400D, then moved onto a 40D. During this period I began to realise what using 'good glass' really meant and upgraded my lens's to a couple of L lens and a 7D body. From there I chose the 5D 111 in order to move into the full frame environment. With an L lens (silver body) this camera will deliver all that the manufacturer says it will. Remember, if you use a lower quality lens, you will not get top quality pictures. Cameras AND lens's both need to be top notch if you want the best quality pictures - and the 5D 111 with the best silver L lens you can afford will give you this. As far as taking this camera into a harsh environment goes, I have the utmost confidence it will always come up to scratch whenever I need it to, and without having to 'baby' it. I cannot give a review on studio or people photography as I do not do any of this type of work. In short, I can fully recommend this camera for outdoor wild life work.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, looks & feels good, very clear images

Since purchasing the 5D Mark III I feel as though that even I can take beautiful pictures more often than not. Now I am in a race to buy Lenses and accessories before I die so I can leave a nice working camera and all the peripherals that go with it to my son. This Camera has really made me feel like I can see the World more clearly than I could before. I will NEVER get to know all the things it's can do, but I sure am enjoying learning as much as I can while I can.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, quality feel, does so many things, takes really beautiful stills and hd videos
Cons: there was a light problem but it's been fixed so

This camera has a learning curve but it is quite amazing. You need to use good glass to realize it's potential. Crazy good ISO performance. Glad that they improved fps from the 'Mark II. Highly recommend making the move to his camera. The improved 61 focus point is also a nice upgrade as well.
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, easy to use
Cons: pricey

Spectacular features, image quality, and technology. From the moment I held this camera in my hands, the design and placement of every button (etc.) made sense. This camera is without a doubt, Canon's best and industry leader in technology and quality. I am blown away by the images I've made with this camera. The focusing and exposure control on this camera is unbelievably superb. For the first time in my 30+ years of being a photographer, my expectations where met above and way beyond. This camera is absolutely worth every penny. I am going to truly enjoy the art of photography again.

Awesome Camera!

After using my 70D for a year and looking for a second camera, I decided to go full frame with the 5Diii. In principle because of lower noise at higher ISO. The 5Diii has exceeded my expectations, especially in low light conditions such a photographing concerts with high ISO settings. Focus is very fast, and I recommend the battery grip for extended time of camera use though adds to the bulk and weight, but worth it. My main cons are the poor/slow AF in live view and absence of touch-tilt LCD screen. The 70D will remain my GoTo video DSLR, which it was well designed.

I love this camera!!! Before the release of the Mark III, I was in the process of ordering the Mark II. So happy that I waited. The new AF system in itself is phenomenal and with all the little extras the Mark III incorporates, this camera is a great machine. I would like to have seen a higher mega pixel for the price, but the 22.3 MP works for my portrait and wedding business.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: small mega pixel increase

Best Trade Up Ever

I am a freelance photographer and use the 5D Mark lll for everything, traded up from the Mark ll. I highly recommend this camera for the Novice/Pro. It is a little weak in the sports department but for that I anxiously await the release of the 7 D Mark ll to use as my sports camera.
