You get what you pay for.

Camera feels feels very solid in your hands. Its silent shutter, high ISO ability, 61 focus points, and 6 FPS is outstanding.
Pros: image quality, high iso ability, fps
Cons: price

I will be short and sweet because other reviewers have said everything about this camera I would add. I love the camera especially for the FOCUS. I am coming from the 50D and I thought it was good as well but this trumps that one by a long shot. I have only had it 3 weeks so have not done a lot of shooting but I can see a huge improvement in my photography. I would like to have a “free tech guide with examples shown” as this would help my growth as a photographer... please consider this ! I love the lock on the settings, great improvement. I would love to have more time and learn so much more about my camera and the world of photography.

Bad quality

Just got my new 5D Mark III. When the CF card I ordered arrived it did not work and tried 2 others that work with canon cameras. Would not even format.
Today picked camera out of bag and the top of the mode dial fell off.
Camera now off to canon service center and upset that I have to pay shipping on a warranty repair of a brand new camera. This on top of the use of the camera for about 2 weeks. Not a good reflection on Professional Quality Camera or customer relations.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, iso noise
Cons: Poor build quality, Heavy/Bulky, Complicated controls/menu, to many af options
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Needs firmware and functionality upgrade - pronto!

This is a great camera made into an average camera by lack of improvement in the camera since it's release. There has been no major firmware update in the 9 months since I bought this camera with the exception of adding f8 cross focus points (primarily for use only with teleconverters) and will be another 3 months until one appears. The 1DX has had two such firmware updates since it's release 6 months after the 5D3.
It is not a well supported camera by the manufacturer and it's value over the last 6 months is severely diminished because later ( and cheaper) cameras such as the 6D have similar functions aside from autofocus.
I love this camera but it is increasing frustrating knowing I have paid a premium for a quality product which has been devalued because of protecting the top of the line camera.
My recommendation is either buy the 1DX and if you can't afford it, get the 6D and save your money for extra lenses.
