I have been amazed at the performance and overall value of the new 5D Mark III. The new features have been a plus and the quality is well worth the investment.

The only real downside to this camera is the price, While many of us, myself included, expected a 2600-3000 price tag, the camera is definitely worth the money you pay. Simply superb machine.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Why I Returned My 5D MK III

I must preface my review with the fact that I am not a professional photographer, I do not earn a living with my camera.
I have a 7D, and have been waiting for a 7D MK II to appear--if Canon Rumors are to be believed--but in a moment of weakness I allowed the local photo shop to convince me that even if it was produced, it would not equal the 5D MK III.
The 5D MK III, in my opinion, is one step forward--the new AF system, and two steps back--moving function buttons around--that said, I hear the video improvements are great, I just don't shoot video, and could care less about it.
I returned my 5D MK III. For the same price, one can purchase a new 7D, spare battery, 16-35mm f/2.8, and several SanDisk Extreme 32GB CF cards.
Perhaps Canon can take a page out of an old-school playbook and offer a 7D MK II that combines the 5D MK III sensor and AF system, and deletes the video. That I will stand in line to buy.

Cons: button functions have changed

State if the art, terrific tool 5D III!!!!

My first DSLR was the canon eos 7D which I loved, appreciated and a very capable tool for advanced and pro in the field. I still love it!
Had the 7D when it was released in 2009, around mid 2010 I received a 5D mark ii as a gift from a colleague which i loved the most because the images I was taken with the 5D 2 was sharper, cleaner and crisper because of it s larger sensor (full Frame) usually wider images .
My 7d delivers terrific images qualities because I had the right settings and some of the best canon L glasses.
The 7D comes body only, I didn't want to take the 28-135mm because I had the possibilities to borrow l glasses from friends specially the 24-105 F4 IS mm and 24-70 F 2.8.
I opted for 24-105 F4 IS for longer reach and IS, and it matched fantastically with my full frame 5D ii (it doesn't vignette, wide enough for landscape.
My 7D has a small APS C size sensor, the ergonomic is terrific ( almost 1D flagship), the 7d AF is fantastic , has many new features even Pro 1D does not carry .it helped me a lot when I use longer lenses and will get more focal lenses because of the cop factor, all sports and actions I shot with the 7D gave me excellent results.
Talking about the 5D II (one of the canon body state of the art) pro photographers and videographers who used the the mark II threw excellent feedbacks about the body !!!
The only thing I was imagining on the 5D ii was a better AF ( I was telling people ( Just imagine the 7D AF on the 5D II)
When canon announced the 5DII, the specs was so amazing, canon listened the feedback of pro photographers around the globe, specially sharing the canon eos 1D X AF, HDR, multiple exposure, the price of the 5D 3 is a steal IMO. The weather sealing of the 5D 3 has been improved over the 5D 2, it has the same level of the 7D and even better because the 5D 3 weight more than 7D and the 7D weight more than the 5D 2.
The rest of the 5D 3 ergonomic comes from the 7D, overall the 5D 3 comes with great improvements from the original 5D, I had the chance to try it, test it and it amazed me a lot.
The 5D 2 ISO performance is terrific, but the 5D 3 is much better, low light shooters will enjoy it!!!
