Poor quality control

Purchase the 5d mark iii 6 weeks ago. All of sudden it stopped powering up. Went completely dead. Using original canon batteries. Vey disappointing that after spending several thousand dollars I have received a "lemon".

body light leakage

body cap on, eyepiece on, meter still reads something, it should be completely dark inside the body.
with LCD top panel light on, the metering changing.
in real shootings -- tend to under exposed in the varied light source conditions, like sunlite and shadow, window light and dark room etc.
weather seal seems not that good, with laser beam tests, can see possible light leak from top to bottom.

Pros: many features that are for events/wedding shooters, low iso iq
Cons: mechanical structure issues, pricy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Could be better

I am a hobbyist photographer; that said, I would have liked to have an on-board flash. I also own the 7D. I like the fact that with the 7D, I can use the on-board flash as a master flash (turned all the way off) for my 580 and 320 external flashes. With the 5D, I will need to purchase the speedlite transmitter to accomplish the same task. I would also have liked it if Canon would have made the LCD screen tilt, like the 60D. That feature would have made it so much easier for low-to-the-ground macro and over-my-head shots.
I've owned my 5D Mark III since March 2012. Overall, I find that the camera tends to evaluate my scenes to be brighter than normal, resulting in darker photos. I'd say, 60% of the time, my histograms show no white pixels. I'm hoping this is just something I am doing wrong, but I don't have this issue with the same scenes with the 7D. If anyone has any helpful hints, I would appreciate them. I read a lot of books about exposure; but so far, it's just not messing with this camera. I'm not sorry I bought it, but I definitely think it could have been better.
I do like the speed and the 61 auto focus point system. The bottom line is...I still have a lot to learn about this camera. I absolutely love playing around with the built in HDR.

I love my new 5D - Mark III, I only wish it had a pop-up flash
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu
