5D Mark III
on December 26, 2014

The 5D Mark III is replacing my Mark II which died after 4 years of abuse (dropped on pavement from 4 ft 15 minutes after I opened the box. Rain, snow, submerged in muskeg water, banged against any convenient nearby object) and 30K+ images. Mark III fits my hands better than any other camera I've every held! Seriously comfortable surface texture! My focus is Alaskan Rain Forest images. They are usually low light, often very low or very high contrast. Previously I've had taken multiple images to get the right one, or merge in PS. The 68 point focusing-sensing points have almost eliminated my need for multiple images! It takes the image right the first time! Very happy with that. With the Mark II, I had a system of getting 6 differently bracketed images with two shoots. The Mark III has 7 bracketing shots with ONE shoot! All my lenses, flashes, batteries and cards fit the Mark III. No problem there. Not yet sure how the SD card slot works with the CF card, but I'm sure it will be a benefit. Wish I had bought it a long time ago, except my Mark II was working fine, so I could not justify the purchase. I have 2 other Canon bodies as backup. :) :) :)

Great Pictures with the new 5D
on April 7, 2012

Having only used the new 5D Mark III for three days, I am on a cloud so far. The pictures are so sharp compared to the 7D I have been using now for two years. I would add, the feel of the 5D is amazing and the confidence it gives you is great! The lock out feature on the rotary is a life saver for me since the rotary switch could be moved by accident if I was not careful. I also have the 60D and it has the lockout feature too. This new 5D is a great product and I hope to use it a long long time!!! Thanks Canon.
Cons: price is high but probably worth it!

When i saw this camera i knew i wanted it but the price was kind of high I have a 7D and its a great camera to but i was looking for something more I was worried at first when i was comparing the pretty big price difference between the two and i asked myself is it really worth the extra money when i got my camera within the first week it was blowing my mind i expected it to be somewhat better but WOW to mention a few image quality, shutter noise, AF, and iso are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Im taking brilliant bright pictures now and i really thought my 7D was all that so to speak boy was i wrong i suggested this camera to all my coworkers as well as my friends im using it for nature studio and some sports and it has preformed great so far so do your self a favor and save up for this camera and as far as weight i like having a heavier camera because it feels as solid as a tank
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, af is amazing!!!

I am glad I purchased this camera, in the beginning I was going to stick with my 7D and just purchase new lenses . I am glad I bought the 5D mark3 , the images are much more than just A picture, they come to life.I really cant say much more than that since I'm and amateur .Until I learn more about the cameras settings and features like HDR,RAW and videos ,I will add more to this review. So far so good, I know I'm pleased with my purchase.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Nice Camera

This is another fine camera from Canon. I have used it at dog shows and in a studio setting so far. I still use my Canon 1Ds but this camera will replace the 1Ds for all my outdoor shooting. The mark III process various light setting very well. The noise reduction at higher ISO settings is superior to my other cameras. It has a a lot more features which ads to it's versatility. I am very happy with this purchase.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Solid Operation
Cons: none

Best...so Far

This is my 4th DSLR...I had several Canon film cameras over the years. I would have to say this is the Best one I have used in...digital format. I would really like a DSLR without the video capabilities...I never use it and would rather not have it...at all! Overall a great camera and I would recommend it to anyone!
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality

Happily traded in my MkII.

I love the new AF system! Although quite a bit more expensive than the MkII, it's still a good value considering all the improvements. I find the dual memory card slots and built-in functionality for HDR to be the features I didn't think I needed but sure love now that I used the camera for a month.
I just wish the GPS was built in and the active AF points could light up like in the MkII rather than only temporarily as in the MkIII.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality
Cons: Missing features/settings
I would recommend this to a friend!
