Love everything except that the on unit buttons don't always work. Have to use the remote for everything/

Nice 4K Blue-ray player

This has nice features and is easy to use. There are not many options for 4K Blue-ray players but this does the job. Great pictures.. It is pretty expensive but I understand this is new technology. The remote has very limited function and fast forward, reverse, are difficult to use. I would expect much more at the price.
Pros: Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: expensive, poorly designed remote

Fantastic 4K BluRay Player but...

The UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player offered an immaculate picture on the LG 4K TV that I have. Unfortunately it played perfectly through only 4.5 movies before it began to lock up and become unresponsive. I contacted a very professional customer service rep via live chat and was walked through several diagnostics that indicated the player needed to be repaired. The repair techs determined that the main PCB ('printed circuit board') assembly needed to be replaced.
Based on experience I've had with my laptop's Blu-ray player, which always ran hot and would automatically shutdown the laptop unless I used an external cooling fan, I believe this Blu-ray player overheated. The outer case doesn't seem to have much in the line of cooling vents or fans built into it, and it does seem to run hot. Samsung needs to address this matter ASAP, as my player is not the only one to have this issue.
I haven't yet received the player back from repair yet. When it arrives, I'll be placing it on an external laptop cooling platform before using it again. Hopefully that will prevent future mishaps from occurring.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, outstanding picture quality
Cons: prone to overheating.

About a week or so ago, I noticed that theres was loud static coming from my TV while discs were loading. Today, I tried to play a disc and couldn't get any picture to display. I can't even get the home screen to appear. When I first start the player, I can see the 4K UHD logo for a couple of seconds but after that nothing. I now seem to have an expensive paperweight. Guess it's time to navigate Samsung's horribly designed site to put in a service request.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Did not meet expectations, already dead
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great picture

Been pretty satisfied with this unit once I was comfortable with the settings in it. Being the first 4k uhd blu ray player out there for the masses there was a learning curve as far as settings go between a uhd blu ray and a standard blu ray. Once I got that down I've been very happy with my purchase.
