Great for 4K BluRay!!

Just bought this unit so that I could fully enjoy watching Ultra HiDef 4K BluRay on a new TV and am very happy with it! The ability to split sound and video comes in really handy when you have a receiver that is not HDCP 2.2 compliant. Setup was really easy, though the remote is pretty small and too much use can cause hand fatigue. Sound and picture quality are fantastic. Best of all, the price is much lower than the other 4K player out there. I've already referred the unit to a friend who is setting up a home theater and he bought it today!
Pros: Inexpensive, Bright display, Durable, excellent audio/visual output, state of the art
Cons: remote is a bit too small
I would recommend this to a friend!

4K Bluray Player

To be completely honest, the only reason why I went with the Samsung 4K Bluray player was the lack of competition. However, I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked. Since pretty much all the content on a 4k bluray will be played on something other than the actual player, the players only function is to get the picture to your TV and sound to your receiver (or TV) and this player defenitely does that.
Load times are ok, it outputs exactly the way I want it to; it doesn't get in your way which normally 1st gen products tend to do. Its a good player, even if its the only player on the market now.
Pros: Durable, Lightweight

Missing LED display. Old user interface.

The performance of this product is exceptional. My only two complaints are that a flagship player should have an led display as does my Samsung bdj7500 Blu-ray player. And the user interface is old and not worthy of a flagship device. Samsung should have used the same ui as on my un55js9000. This device appears to have been engineered without any thought of being a truly flagship device in order to beat the competition to market with the first 4k ultra Blu-ray player.
Pros: exceptional performance
Cons: no display on unit, old tired user interface

Nice design! Does it all, 4k, 3D, Bluray, Smart apps, etc. Beautiful, crisp, clear picture. Worth the money spent.

4K Ultra HD BluRay Player

After purchasing a 4K Premium TV, I couldn't wait to see what a 4K movie would look like on it. The TV upscaled 1080P material pretty good, but there had to be a difference - just like upscaling DVD movies to 1080P. There is improvement in the blacks and scenes that are inside or night. Plus the color jumps out more.
For a price of the player, you would think that the remote would not be so small. It is so small, that I have a constant problem pressing the wrong button. Not actually the wrong button, but pressing two buttons at once. Samsung doesn't offer an alternative remote. It is frustrating to use the remote. It is like you need to use a stylus pen to operate some of the buttons. It is so bad, that Samsung should replace the remote with a more user friendly remote. Bad engineering on the design of the remote. If the remote was better, I would have had no problem rating everything five stars.
Pros: stylish
Cons: remote is too small

4K UDH WITH FANTASTIC SOUND!

Set up Atmos 7.4.1 sound and needed a two HDMI output UDH player so I can get Atmos sound which is only on Blu Ray discs sometimes and is on UHD discs. Will be ready for 4K UDH projector when price is reduced.
Pros: two hdmi for non-hdcp receivers
Cons: curved design not as good for rack systems, no ip/http control

The player is phenomenal...the remote, not so much!

The Samsung UBD-K8500 is an amazing 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray player. The player easily plays 4K discs and upscales non-4K disc content to near 4K quality. It paired immediately and perfectly with my Sansung K8000 ultra HD 4K television automatically. It also has streaming content ability for Netflix, YouTube, etc.. Since most Smart TV's come equipped with these same streaming sites, this is more of a redundancy. If you don't have a "Smart" television, then this player would be a great asset for you in this area of packaged streaming sites. This player, however,museums like it was "made" for my Samsung K8000 television, and it probably was, too! Now, if I love this player so much, why would I deduct a star? The answer is simple. The remote control is maddening. I cannot tell you how many times I have hit the "home" button by mistake when entering information to link my Netflux account, etc., into the player to store my logon information. Thank goodness that you only have yo do this once. The keyboard on the remote is ridiculously small and the amount of pressure needed to register an input is absurdly hard. Thankfully, my TV remote paired and thereby superseded the remote that comes with the player so that I do not have to use the player's remote again. If you do not have a Samsung TV and therefore cannot pair with the television, you might have success purchasing a universal remote and giving it a shot, although I'm not sure how many,mud any, features you might lose on the player if you used a non-proprietary remote.
Pros: the player is state-of-the-art
Cons: remote buttons too small and close together
