Great picture

The player works very well with excellent 4k picture. Has 2 hdmi outputs to pass audio to older receivers . Overpriced and I don't like the curved shape. Otherwise excellent quality.
Pros: Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: overpriced, curved shape

4k blu ray is here

If you buy movies and have tv that supports HDR you won't be disappointed. Fast loading , excellent color. Great design.

Almost everything I was hoping for once I finally was able to get my hands on one. Easy to set and and under five minutes I was watching Mad Max.
The remote works good for a five year old, but not for an adult's hand. Could have done a lot better.

A little hard to set up w/ non Samsung 4K TV

Set up to get 4K output with a non Samsung, non HDR 4K TV was trial and error and involved turning off the 24 frame setting in video settings. There needs to be better and more detailed information for the settings to be used for non HDR and non Samsung products.
Once the first hurdle was passed, the picture was very nice for 4K, standard blue ray and DVD's.
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display
Cons: poor set-up instructions

Great while it lasted

We had the player for a month and watched 3 titles in 4KUHD. They were great and the picture was outstanding. The remote is a little difficult if you have large hands as the buttons have poor feedback, but we us a universal so it is not important. We went to watch a DVD, turned on the player and had a flashing red light, no picture. We went through the reboot steps and followed the instructions on Samsung's Support area. No luck. They called us back and we shipped the DVD player to them and we are now awaiting a replacement. I will happily adjust the rating upon receipt of a functioning player since it did work well for that short spell.
Pros: nice design, great built in apps
Cons: runs hot, so far unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So Far, So Good

There aren't a lot of UHD HDR Blu-ray players on the market. With that being said, Samsung's UBD-K8500 has met my high level of expectation. Since I don't have anything to compare the HDR UHD blu-ray content to, I simply will say that I am satisfied with the picture quality and the quick load times.
Pros: Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

Next generation of movie watching. The clearest picture and an abundance of colors make this new UHD player impeccable to say the least. If you purchase this product you will not be disappointed.

This product doesn't work

I bought the UBD K8500 at Best buy, took it home wouldn't play UHD dvds. Called Samsung we took steps, they told me I had a defective unit. Returned to Best buy, exchanged for a different one ( same model ) took it home...same thing. Called Samsung, they walked me through the same steps as before they said they'd get back to me, never did. I called them, now I have to ship it to them so their technical department can try to figure out what's wrong with it. I strongly recommend that you do not buy this particular unit, I'm not happy at all. I have many Samsung products,
