great printer, misleading fax functionality

Printer is easy to use, easy to set up and works great except for the fax functionality.
Reviews or purchase documentation does not indicate the fax will not work with digital
phone lines. Most phones lines today are digital. Printer manual clearly indicates the fax will not work with digital phone lines.

I have been a HP Printer user for over 10 years. I found that the Officejet printer uses less ink than the other models. I have a 6500 Officejet and got this 6700 for my daughter. It was easy to setup and the LED display is convenient and quick to do scans. Athough they say delivery in 5-8 days, I got mine within 5 days.

Ease, Technology & Price - All in One!

I have always trusted HP printers, specifically the All-In-One models because I can fax from my home/office with ease and the price has always been lower than other brands - I find I get more for my money with HP. When I needed another printer/fax for my office, I chose this 6700 model and was amazed when I found out just what a joy it was to use, so easy! The touch screen is fantastic! I will always buy HP's! I am a very satisfied customer!!

Followed setup instructions. Tested all functions; all work fine with desktop, laptop and iPhone, iPad. I was especially interested in the wireless capability of this printer, and it works great.

Great product, still needs tweaking

Owned for 10 days. Lots of experience with prior generations of HP all-in-ones. Still need to test faxing. Bought for e-print capability from iPhones and iPads and other tablet devices, duplexing, separate cyan/magenta/yellow/black cartridges with large capacity SKUs, capable of good photo quality as well.
Pros: Product setup, installation, cartridge installation, and firmware update went quickly; installed on three Window OS's: Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Prints easily with AirPrint from iPad without need for HP ePrint). Large paper tray, touchscreen UI, duplexes nicely, prints fast. Hoping to easily print holiday letters and labels on new all-in-one to replace older PhotoSmart 7200.
Cons: Pricier unit is large and tall; need to push back on counter so we don't hit the paper tray when passing by. Copy defaults to Color setting - should let me pick default. Video demos don't let me skip: >> part of touchscreen ignores input so you have to wait for video to finish. Had trouble copying from the auto doc feeder using the front panel. Sensor detected paper (chime), but the scan kept coming from the scanbed. Checked online for a solution, then chatted with agent. Had to turn unit off, unplug, wait 30 seconds, turn on and retry. ADF has barely been used once with five sheets of paper, so lint rollers should have been clean. I would not want to have to do this every time I want to copy six sheets of new, unwrinkled, unstapled, untorn pages. Also had a WiFi issue - two HP wireless all-in-ones, one used with older XP computers and WEP, the new one setup for WPA. Netgear router has two wireless options, one setup for WEP, the other for WPA. New all-in-one lost its wireless settings insisted I use WEP wireless connection. Had to reset it to use WPA and re-enter password. in fact, I found HP ePrint to be not worth the trouble of installing (appeared to require tedious installation of email addresses and passwords which I think is a security risk, did not work once I configured the first, so I gave up and deleted the app).
Software/firmware still have some bugs to be worked out.

Despite HP's assurance that hooking up my printer with my WIFI system and computer would be a breeze, it certainly was not. It took over two hours with techs to get to work. I don't know what all the techs did except to download a new driver, but everything was far beyond my technical expertise. Subsequent printings have been only mediocre in quality with disappointing sharpness and washed out color.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The only thing keeping this from a five star rating is the absence of any simple way to load and feed an envelope short of emptying the entire paper tray. An envelope feed slot similar to the wonderful old Desk Jet would have been a very welcome touch. Othere than that, speed, features and print quality are all top notch.

Outstanding printer, I couldn't ask for a better quality machine included with smart technology for the money. Wish I had updated my outdated printer long ago for a model with features such as this one has. Thanks HP
