Skeptic -- completely impressed

Set it to run 6x a week, because my cat sheds and the hair is extremely visible on dark hardwood floors. She also tracks liter outside of the liter box. Every day I come home from work and feel like someone has cleaned my house. It has no problem going from the living room/dining room/bathroom (hardwood floors) & bedroom (carpet). The one thing to note is you have to stay up on keeping it clean (emptying the bin) and cleaning the brushes, etc. The included tools to do so are a great addition.
Pros: Ability to schedule, Easy To Use, Super easy to clean

I have patiently waited for years for this product to evolve before purchasing and after spending many hours reading other consumers reports, I decided it was finally time. I chose the Roomba 770 after reading others comments about all brands and models. I seen many still functioning 3-4 year old roombas on auction sites, and if I get 3-4 years life out of this machine I will be a very happy camper. My house has a sunken living room and I was not sure if this product would work in the raised areas. I am very pleased to announce that it skirts right along the edge of my 6 inch raised kitchen hardwood and does not fall off =) I took it right out of the box and took the paper out of the debris bin, turned it on and sent her off on her merry way.. I have two rottweilers who shed everywhere and bring in more dirt than you can imagine, but within minutes my kitchen floor felt clean to my bare feet =) Pretty sure this little lady is gonna keep my house cleaner than I ever could! I seen many mentions of noisiness but I do not find it to be bothersome in the least. It isn't much louder than my dishwasher and my dishwasher was chosen due to it being one of the most silent ones on the market.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Does Not Fall Off An Edge, Hassle Free Operation, Pet Friendly, Quiet

Absolutely LOVE this thing

This machine is wonderful! I love the thought of a "helper" and he works while you do. If I am on the phone, cleaning another room, or whatever, I can hear him in the other room and feel like something is getting done. I have bought one for my daughter for Christmas. She didn't think much of this thing (and neither did I .. because when my husband got it for me, it sat around for weeks unopened, until HE got the initiative to open the box and set it up .. I was like ..Good God another toy for him and probably a problem for me. NOOoooo way! I have fallen in love with this thing and so did my daughter over Thanksgiving, helping me clean. One thing, you have got to be sure all the junk is off the floor, especially any string type trash. (i.e. fishing line, small toys like Barbie shoes or Polly Pockets, etc) Once a bungee cord got in it .. but it was fine, just had to remove it. I wish I could afford to get these for all my friends ..I could sell these things.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Extends Functionality, Inconspicuous Design, Increases Performance

Too Good to Be True!

I was totally skeptical about this thing, initially. I really only turned to Roomba out of desperation. I mean, come on, it so small and my other vacuum is so big. How could it possibly meet my standards of suction? But after carefully reading the reviews and talking to others (you'd be surprised who has a Roomba when you ask around...) I took a chance. To say the least, I am a little shocked at the sudden change in my life. I used to have to vacuum every other day, because we have a big dog and 2 cats. I would have preferred to do it more, but it took me at least 30 min. We moved into a house with hardwood floors and everyday, when the sun was setting, we would see the pet hair all over:( Our plan was to get a cleaning person, but we were lucky enough to research the Roomba! (Much cheaper overall...although the start-up capital was steep...glad I took a chance). I have had it a week and I cannot believe that it cleans up so well and it is totally automated. We had a few hiccups, like it got itself locked in the bathroom and it got stuck under the lip of our dishwasher, but other than that, it has been working perfectly! I use the virtual walls to keep it out of the bathroom and other problem areas, so it can clean unsupervised during the day. Then when I get home, I plop it in the middle of the bathroom/hallway and make sure it doesn't get locked in...Presto! Our house seems to get cleaned by Magic. It might be good to note that we don't have rugs or carpet, and I took care to keep cords and other potential clutter off of the floor....HOWEVER..my partner is not so careful and, as other reviewers have mentioned, there can be a bit of a bra problem. But it sucks up even used tissues...ick. Why used tissues are on the floor is a question for a my partner to answer....She is working on it. My pets are not even too scared of it since it is quieter than the big canister vac...Bonus. I do hope that in the future they find a way to utilize GPS type tech so that it does the job quicker. Overall, words cannot express the joy I feel at being freed from the chains of my vacuum...seriously, I would not have time to write such a review in the past. I, of course, clean the roomba daily. Not because it needs to be cleaned daily, but because I am so worried about living without it....well, and, I kinda am running out of things to clean now. I am def gonna check out the scooba...
Pros: Cleans well, Great on Pet Hair
Cons: Sometimes gets stuck

I have three house dogs - all shed a lot. With cream colored tile, biege rugs, and black dogs my house was a constant mess. Fur tumbleweeds everywhere if I didn't vacuum daily. But who has the time to vacuum daily? Well, Consuela has the time! All I have to do is empty the bin frequently, (Consuela does not always tell me when the bin is full-I think the dog fur has to be really packed in there before she registers it). I put her to work every day, the main living area daily, and the bedrooms every other day. I just love her since I haven't had to pull out the big vacuum since she joined the family. She does have a tendency to obsess over certain areas, small areas like under the end table where she has limited space. I just pick her up and move her and then block off that area. No big deal. I highly recommend the 770, yes it's pricey but totally worth the cost!
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Frequent Maintenance

Auto Virtual Walls

Addition to prior review: the new Auto Virtual Walls, though not compatible with prior models or even my Scooba 230, have the great advantages that (1) compared to prior Virtual Walls, they take C cells instead of D cells, and (2) you can leave them in place in "auto" mode and the batteries will last ~6 months. Very handy. I leave them in place and on auto all the time. I have two cats and a dog, so Roomba seems to be running all the time.

MY first Roomba joined our family today!

This thing is amazing; I vacuumed the floor with our upright yesterday knowing Roomba would be here today, and after charging until the green light came on; we released Roomba and the whole family ( 2 cats and 1 small dog ) watched it set to work. Roomba does not map rooms, it seems like it just wanders blindly around the house, however it works and cleans fantastically, and surprisingly very quiet, we continued watching the news while Roomba was working * Yes it's that quiet* We have a very very large home which I used the two supplied VirtualWalls to block off one of the living rooms and the hallway that leads to the bedrooms; Roomba had no problem cleaning two large offices, one very large living room, large kitchen, sitting room, dining room and one bathroom; it found it's way back to it's home base after finishing. The robot had just about a full bin, it actually made me sick to think where it collected up all this grime from; the hardwood and carpeted areas are spotless, the Roomba had no problem working with area rugs and tassels, it did not eat cords ( because we watched the DVD and followed directions to clean up cords ) I would not recommend spending the extra $100 on the 780 model just for the room to room navigation, if the 770 can find its way around my massive house, chances are it will work 100% in yours as well. This is a fantastic product, I would purchase this product again and again; I am so impressed with this product I see a Scooba in our future !
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Quiet, Smaller than I thought, Very QUIET
Cons: Does not map room

The 770 has changed the world in my home
on August 30, 2011

My dog's hair carpets my floors and my once a week regimen of two hour vacuuming (yes I'm meticulous) seemed futile to hair dropping right behind it. I could not enjoy my efforts or even walking barefoot in my house. I could realize some enjoyment for that one day but the rest of the week was just hairy, so to speak. A friend recommended Roomba saying her mother loved her hers, my research of Roomba reviews turned out very positive, and the 700 series was my aim as they now had the upgrades that I knew I would need; according to reviews from pet owner's. Both, another friend and I got a 770 and mine has changed my world in my house. I am experiencing peace with my floors. It vacs every day and now my once a week vacuuming has even scaled back to just focusing on edges and corners, mostly. And it allows me energy and time to vac and clean other areas of house that used to not get much attention. My house is cleaner because of it. I've heard that the Roomba will talk to you when it has a problem, but I don't know what they say because mine hasn't had a problem. I've had the 770 about 2 months and it far exceeds my expectations. I am very, very satisfied. My friend is equally satisfied. His neighbor borrowed his 770 and then ordered one right after. My floors are hardwood, carpet, tile, rugs (some shag) and one flimsy litter box mat and the 770 transitions these surfaces with no problem. My 770 is easy to clean and requires very little effort from me. My friend's daughter named mine Barbara Jean. His is named Bob. Kudos to BJ and Bob.
Pros: Adjusts to all flooring, Easy To Clean
