Love My Roomba

I just purchased the 770 which i love, does a great job on my hard wood floors and carpeted bedrooms. It can get lost in hallways and unable to find its way back to the docking station at times so the Virtual Walls are convenient to have although I'm disappointed the light houses are not compatible with this model as i manually need to move my Roomba from room to room if I want it to fully clean a room before it moves on to the next one. After reading lots of reviews on various models I still feel this was the best option.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck

Love love love it! This was a gift from my Dad who saw me battling with the pet hair daily, otherwise I wouldn't have sprung for it myself. However now that I own one, I just can't go without. It cleans the hardwood floors way better than manually sweeping because it can get under the furniture, and it vacuums it up instead of me pushing it around with a sweeper. Also my carpets are as beautiful as my Dyson would leave them. I have a baby, cat and dog. So clean floors are important when my little one is crawling around. The bonus is that it cleans where my vacuum would never go which is under the bed (where the dog sleeps), along the edges of the wall and I also use it on my couches. Sure, the roomba does take at least twice as long to clean as sweeping or vacuuming manually...but I dont' care! That is still time I don't have to do it and can be spending with my little one instead! I heard a friend complain that they had to empty the bin too often with their roomba so they returned it. Are you kidding me?! That is still less effort than it takes to pull out and put away a vaccuum and sweeper alone! You want it to cook breakfast for you too? I took off one star cause it is noisy. It has made my life easier, bottom line!

Gets It Done

I have many responsibilities, leaving me little time for cleaning. I looked for this to reduce my cleaning load, and it has done so to my satisfactionl. I do a couple of rooms at a time; either carry or navigate to the room in question, set down a virtual wall or two, then turn it loose while I work on something else. The first time I used it, I had to clean out the bin halfway through the room because it picked up so much cat hair. After that, it is usually full around the time it finishes. I have a lot of area rugs, some with fringe. It does an excellent job of cleaning both the rugs and the hard surfaces. I have have never had an issue with fringe or power cords getting pulled in, something I can't claim about my upright vacuum. It's worst performance is along the borders between area rugs and hard floors. The rugs are thick enough that there is a narrow gap on the hard floor where the suction is insufficient to get it all due to the elevated hight of one side of the Roomba. Sometimes it cleans it well anyway because the little corner brush will sometimes fling the bits of hair or debris away from this gap so it can be picked up somewhere else. But it sometimes misses these. When it does, I ignore it, and it will often catch it the next time I sweep. It actually does better than my Hoover along baseboards and under furniture. I would use the attachments to manually get at those areas. But due to the difficulty of reaching them, I typically did a poor job of getting them clean. The Roomba actually does far better than I ever did on these areas. And I was scared to look under the bed and some other furniture for what I might find. But the Roomba attacked them fearlessly, and cleaned it all right up. I am very happy with it. I then turned it loose, with some trepidation, on my filthy screened-in porch. Now, it looks better than it has since I spent three hours cleaning it up a couple of years ago.

Model 770 is not compatible with the "lighthouse" accessory. The lighthouse is what allows Roomba to move from one room to another and find its way home. Since the lighthous is not compatible with the models 760 or 770, virtual walls must be used to confine Roomba to a single room so that it does not lose its way back to the base/charger. This should be clearly stated in the literature.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use
Cons: Only good for single room

At first I was skeptical about purchasing the Roomba. I live with a blue heeler, a black lab, and two dachshunds inside. I have carpet, tile and hardwood floors and I was continuously vacuuming and sweeping. I was told that I had to many rugs and furniture in my house to get much good out of the Roomba, but boy were they wrong. I don't know how I lived without it. It's wonderful and my mother was so impressed that she bought herself one also. Besides the pet hair, it's just so nice to know all the dust bunnies are not living under my bed anymore. A GREAT product. Next time I buy one I will upgrade. The 770 is all it's advertised to be, can't even imagine how the more expensive models do.

We have two dogs and two cats. Our housekeepers come once a week and by the time they come the floor is taken over by hair. Vivian has been a real champ in cleaning up the hair in between visits. I would recommend it to anyone. If I had any complaint the bin is too small.

I run my roomba every Sunday and sometimes other days as needed. I really love it, and it helps me get my chores done (knowing that I don't need to vacuum really helps!). It's great for getting under furniture (and finding it's way out) and very thorough. My issues with it are that it doesn't always dock itself when it finishes, randomly shuts itself off, doesn't always clean the entire apartment, and remote is virtually useless unless you want to press buttons repeatedly until it registers it. I love that it came with two virtual walls, though I wish they allowed the roomba to come closer to them before it turns around; it's about a good foot from the virtual wall. It takes some time for the roomba to learn the layout, so if you purchase one, run it a few times just so it learns. If you rearrange at all, the roomba will get confused. Spot clean is weird, and I have no real use for it. Hair will get horribly tangled in the rubbed brush, so if you have pets or long hair and shed a lot, be prepared for tedious cleaning. Overall, it saves me time, so I don't mind cleaning it out, and it's very therapeutic to watch. I don't mind the noise, as it's quieter than a vacuum, and it helps me keep track of where it is. THE FIRST TIME YOU USE IT, YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO DUMP IT A FEW TIMES UNLESS YOUR FLOORS ARE IMMACULATE! Be prepared. Otherwise, it's like a pet, and I treat it as such. It's part of my family.
