After owning this for 8 months and writing many reviews I have to reiterate how much I love this machine and what a difference it has made in my work load in the household. Over time you learn to maximize the Roomba's efficiency and I have it down to a science. Hypothesis: how to make life easier. Conclusion: GET A ROOMBA!!

Fascinating, dumb and evil

Because it wants to clean everywhere, it has knocked over a 40lb, 8 ft. tall carved Oriental antique easel worth $4000.00 as it kept pushing one of the legs on a slippery cherrywood floor. Broke the glass on the silk tapestry displayed on the easel, scratched the wood floor, made marks on the wall as the huge easel came down and that was only the first day! It can't find it's way back to the dock even if it is only 1 foot in front of it. It's not allowed back in the dining room ever again. Programming it while away is out of the question. I have named it but can't say in public. It manages to find routes around the virtual walls no matter how I set them up. Probably would work better with 4 walls. Strangely enough I still think it's great idea and will keep it but it is evil......

Unit needs at least a 2 foot running start to get onto most area rugs. Will spend 10 minutes in a corner like it can't find its way out. More of a sweeper than a vacuum. Goes into areas but can't find its way out (corners, under tables) so often that at first you root for it and then you curse it as you crawl on the floor to move it manually. Gets one wheel on a rug and can't make it up so it starts doing circles and once again, "Error 6. Please move Roomba to a new location and press 'Start'". You will get very sick of hearing "Error 6", "Error 6"..... Mine will be returned ASAP!! Would be worth it for one fifth the price...MAYBE!

Cons: Can Get Stuck, Can't Get Onto Area Rugs, Can't Get Out Of A Corner, Expensive Sweeper, Gets stuck frequently

It cleaned for 4 days filling up the Dust Bin with each cleaning. I had no idea my floor was that dirty. I run it every day now and the floor is clean. Not compatible with the lighthouse! These sort of management decisions usually harm the company and enable the competition. This market seems ripe for Apple to enter.
