This vacuum gets under the furniture. It collects all the hair my 4 chihuahua's shed. My pets aren't afraid of it! They used to bite at the old style vacuum cleaner. It transitions from carpeting to hardwood floors with ease. When it's finished, my hardwoods gleam. I waited 2 months before writing my review because I wanted to give the Roomba a good test. It passes with flying colors. I highly recommend this vacuum.

Great machine

It's taken a few tries to get one that, so far, is working. The first one went in circles only out of the box. I think another one wasn't really picking up the dog hair... the next one worked great, until it stopped vacuuming altogether. Now I've had this one since August and it's working great so far. If I were to read what I just wrote I wouldn't go buy one and can't believe I've stuck to it, but I did because it's worth it! Yeah, there's some issues, but I really don't know what I would do by myself with two cats and a lab that sheds more than I thought was possible for an animal. I leave it in it's home base downstairs and it's programmed to vacuum every day. So, I walk in from the office and my floors are vacuumed! Once or twice a week I bring it upstairs. That's more complicated because I have a drop in the floor in my bedroom so I have to use the virtual walls and then move it to the next section (bathroom and hallway)when it's finished. Sometimes upstairs I let it run twice in a row as it tends to get jammed up in the small spaces, tangled on electric cords or just doesn't do a great initial job on one of the orientals. In some ways though (getting under the bed and hard to reach areas) it's more effective than regular vacuuming -- I've run it after my cleaning lady vacuumed and mopped my bedroom and it sucked up allot! Bottom line: this thing is a lifesaver. I'm excited to see the new 800 as it sounds like they've made some needed improvements. Maintenance on 770 is high -- takes a few minutes to clean it out. Glad they have new rubber brushes on 800 which will eliminate a big step of brush cleaning. Another reviewer gave me the idea of using a seam ripper to help with brush cleaning and it does work nicely. I don't know why they have a screw on the side brush and not something that can be unscrewed by hand to clean vs using a screw driver.

I use my roomba every day and I am satisfied how she cleans. I have a cat and I needed to clean up every day. I am happy that I get my roomba because she is doing it instead of me now. I would recommend this product only if you do not have any black or very dark colored carpets or floors. She does not go over them and do not clean them. I got that after I bought my new carpet that has a lot of black on it and she does not go over it at all. Well, I loved the carpet because it really matches everything in my dining room but I got another one with light colors.I decided to keep my roomba because of the good job she is doing.

I just purchased the 770 and set it up to run every morning after I leave for work. I cleaned the tile floors and ran my Orek vacuum on Sunday. When I got home from work on Monday the first thing I did was to check my Roomba! WOW!! Even though I had just cleaned the day before, the bin was full of dog hair (we have a Doberman and a Min Pin)!!!! I could not belive it. My husband go home before me on Tuesday and he eptied the bin but saved it so I could see. It had filled the bin again with pet hair. I do not impress easily but I am TOTALLY IMPRESSED with my Roomba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hepa filters were full with dust also. VERY IMPRESSED

Use it for the whole house. We have a small dog but sheds like a dog the size of a Wolf Hound, and it does a great job. Don't know how I got along without it as I have a very bad back and am 71 years old.

Best birthday present ever. I run through a room with a duster or even a broom and knock all dust and dirt to the floor, bust out the Roomba and leave. It bangs around and is pretty noisy but WHO CARES? We stopped running it overnight because of this but I can always jump in the shower or do something else while it runs. I've learned to limit its cleaning area using the towers and it does a better job as long as it doesn't have too huge an area to clean. We have an open floor plan so it took me awhile to perfect how to maximize the Roomba's possibilities but I'm there! I LOVE IT!!!

Great first impression!

Today was Rosie's first run, she took about an hour to do the whole first story of my house (aprox 800sq) and she did great! I own a Golden retriever and was sick of always having the vacuum out laying around due to such frequent vacuuming so I decided to give the iRobot a shot. Even though we vacuumed yesterday morning Rosie still managed to fill her bin full and had no trouble with the long dog hair. She did not get stuck anywhere and maneuvered herself in and out of every room and back to her dock when she was done.

If I had known what I know now, I would have bought the robot years ago. It arrived yesterday and it has exceeded my expectations. I have cats and a dog. Mr. French picks up pet hair and tracked litter too. It has made my life easier and cleaner. Some reviewers have commented that the robot is loud. I really don't think so.
