I've had this product for just over a year, although it is my first smoker I now know what to look for when I'm ready to upgrade. I will definitely get a thicker framed model and tweak it as needed with smoke baffles and gap filler for a better seal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My wife bought me this grill like 2 months ago and haven’t been able to stop using it. I love it so much, I spend more time with my grill than with my wife!! Hahaha thanks for such a great product. Made so well and so sturdy. I’m a customer for life.

the bad: the wheels could be a bit more sturdy, and you might need to drill a small hole in the bottom of smoker for washing out, the good: i think it is great for the backyard. am i gonna take it to a bbq contest? no. can i feed the family and friends on the weekend? yes. i smoke shoulders, hams,and turkey breasts. yes smoke comes out in places, but it has to come out somewhere. not enough to hinder the flavor of your smoked meat. the large cooking surface is great for grilling a lot of meat, and the large warming rack is great for keeping a lot of stuff warm while grilling. i cant speak to the people that think this is a useless grill. i dont need my charcoals to be level when cooking. who cares if the charcoal grate warps a little. as far as the smoke leaking out in places, i just tell the kids its the meat factory at work. they like to watch it. and my friends dont care, they just want to eat. no one notices it. who sits and stares at the grill anyway. for backyard grillers who love the art of grilling on a budget. get one. it works just fine.

It's OK

It works pretty good with the exception that some of the hardware was missing from the box so I ended up having to buy some screws and hex nuts to replace the ones that didn't come in the box. Their are some gaps around the edges of the firebox and the main grill lid so it leaks more smoke than I would prefer. Instructions are not clear and takes a bit of deciphering. Overall I'd say the grill cooks decent but it's got room for improvement.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I notice that you selected that this was a brand new product. Please give us a call to register your grill and to replace the missing hardware (if still needed). There shouldn't be any gaps around the firebox, so upon calling in, mention that to the Grill Specialist and they will take care of you! 1-800-241-7548

Takes a licking, keeps on ticking

I've had this Char-broil smoker for 10 years. It has lived in pretty rough conditions (uncovered and unprotected for about half of those 10 years in Texas heat and rain) and is still in good working order. I did have to replace the thermometer a few years ago, but after countless rain storms, I think that's just to be expected.
It has a nice sized firebox that can fit up to medium sized logs. This is a great smoker for pork ribs, turkey, chicken, sausage, etc. Maybe not ideal for a brisket, but works fine and I've done it on several occasions. As it is a wood smoker, general good practice I've found is to check the temperature roughly every 30-45 minutes. If you make adjustments (especially if you stoke the firebox with more wood), watch it closely for a few minutes to make sure your temperature doesn't spike too high.
Bottom line: for an entry level smoker, this is a reliable and durable product. This took me from a barbecue neophyte into a reasonably experienced cooker. Thumbs up from this Texan.

VERY POOR DESIGN

This model is a very poor design. More smoke comes out of the gaps around the smoking chamber and the firebox than comes out the stack. There is between an 1/8 to 1/4 inch gap all around the lids. It is very hard to maintain a good temperature because of this. There are some good aftermarket gaskets you will need to invest in if you buy this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Disappointed

I bought this product in February 2014 in preparation for our annual Texas Independence Day Party. It was a replacement for an old worn out New Braunfels Smoker with MANY years of faithful service. This smoker was the only decent choice at the Navy Exchange. There is practically nothing on the local Italian market as they do not understand proper BBQ. It is February 2015 as I write this and look for replacement parts. The metal is way to thin. The firebox is burnt through in places and the damper and fire box door have decayed to unusable. The lids never did seal properly but it was functional. Had to drill a hole for a proper thermometer as well. Unfortunately it only lasted a single season even when kept covered in the off season. Very disappointed.
