Not a Flagship

I am a Android fan have been for years. Just switched to this phone after my wife stuck me with her I Phone for my note 4 (which I loved] she ordered it and didn't like it. After coming from the I Phone 6s plus this phone is a huge disappointment. Performance and batter life are not even close. The auto screen dimmer doesn't work you have to turn it off then back on for it to adjust. The sensor that darkens the phone when its at your face is to strong sometimes when you finger tip passes by it will go black and you cant press any keys in a phone call and the list keeps going just don't want to type that much.
Pros: none
Cons: Did not meet expectations, glitches
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

For someone new to android, this vehicle is an impressive intro with great first impressions. I love how well integrated it is with all of its features, bolstered by the power and speed to utilize them to their full capacity. The system makes navigating through emails and news apps so much quicker and efficient. With the screen's color rendition and detail, it gives the look of a magazine Tableau spread across a screen from edge to edge. Great look!
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: none to speak of
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Galaxy 7 Edge is fabulous. The only drawback is rhe screen protector. Getting it to stay in place when putting a cover in the phone is a challenge. The edges come off of the edge when you add the cover.
The camera is great as well. I wish it had black and white and distortion
Pros: Bright display, Built-in speakers, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Samsung gets the details right

I tend to upgrade phones about every year as I push the performance and battery life to the limits. I had been using a Nexus 6p - the other cutting edge Android phone - for a couple of months prior to switching to the Samsung Galaxy S7. I ended up giving the 6p to my wife as she needed a new phone and my employer was offering to get me a new company phone. The Nexus 6p wasn't an approved corporate device so I had no choice but to go with an s7.
I had the original Galaxy and have switched between Nexus and Galaxy devices over the years. The last Galaxy device I had was the s4 which was a disappointment. There were no appreciable improvements in the s4 from the s3 and that turned me off from Galaxy devices.
While I do still prefer the pure Android experience, I can say unequivocally that Samsung has up'd their game. TouchWiz used to be the first thing I removed (usually going with Cyanogen ROM). But with the s7 and the new version of TouchWiz, I actually find it quite useful. A few of my favorite interactions - double click home button for camera, two-finger swipe down for all quick settings, hold home button for Google Now on tap. There has been much talk about multi-window functionality but I personally don't find it that useful... maybe on a tablet.
The fingerprint scanner is the home button. This is a much slicker design than the Nexus 6p which requires you to awkwardly press you finger on the back of the phone.
The s7 also has some health tracking features that I wasn't even aware of. The s7 has a heart-rate sensor built in on the back of the phone and the phone can also function as a pedometer to track your steps if you keep it in your pocket. Bonus: you can use the heart-rate sensor as a "shutter button" when taking selfies.
As I mentioned, I tend to push performance and battery-life. While the s7 does seem to perform on-par or better than the Nexus 6p, for me the battery doesn't last quite as long - only 10-12 hours - compared to the 15-16 hours I was getting out of the 6p. And even with the quick charge capability, the s7 still doesn't charge as fast as the 6p did. That may have something to do with the Nexus 6p adopting the new USB-C interface.
Pros: Bright display
I would recommend this to a friend!

Previously had a Samsung S5. This phone is fast. Really liking the info displayed on the lock screen feature. The edge screen is very handy. Overall I have been very please with the S7 Edge. Also the battery life had been a real plus.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!
