FIRST LOAD OF CLOTHES CAME OUT BEAUTIFUL. CLEANED CLOTHES QUIETLY WHILE I WORKED AROUND THE HOUSE. COULDN'T HEAR IT FROM THE NEXT ROOM.

Good basic machine

Have this machine two weeks. So far so good. Bought this to replace another GE washer which used a computer system which was too expensive to replace. Has a nice quiet washing cycle. My only complaint is that bounces around during the spin cycle and will sometimes sound like it's off balance hence the four star rating.
I would recommend this to a friend!

After significant research, I selected this washer for the following reasons: The lid does not lock. If I drop a clothing item on the way to the laundry room, I an add it without stopping a cycle. I select the water level, which is important; and there is no electronic panel to get damaged every time we have a power surge. I have had more than one of those. These three factors, coupled with poor consumer reviews, is why I did not purchase an HE top
load washer. In other words, fewer "bells and whistles" is more! The tub on this unit is very large, and it spins the clothes much drier than my old washer. This means much less time in the dryer. In addition, the cycles are completed quickly, and the clothes are clean. This model does not have a delicate cycle, but I knew that before I purchased. I do delicate loads, but I will use permanent press quick cycle. If something is fragile, I will wash it in a laundry bag. I am a senior citizen who has been doing laundry for decades. First thing I did was sit down and read the user manual. If you want a washer where you control the process, this is the one. Other brands like this have much smaller tubs.

My parents purchased these for me because my apartment did not come with washer/dryers and due to the confined space, I was worried about noise but this washing machine is so quiet I don't even know it is on. My only complaint is that there is no "gentle cycle." Other than that it works great!
