Planned obsolesence

This washer has no filter system for lint. That is a faulty omission. Which will intentionally limit the life expectation of the machine. Which is my guess that is intentional. A friend has said it should last only 7 years.
We had a Kenmore that lasted 40 + years with only small repairs in that time.

Love it, so far

This machine was installed only 4 days ago, but I had a lot of laundry to do since the day two weeks before when my old machine cratered. Contrary to what I had read in other reviews, the machine is very quiet. And, contrary to what I had read in other reviews it does not become unbalanced easily. I washed a dog bed - the kind that the cover is not removable - together with 2 beach towels and a bathmat. If this load didn't become unbalanced, nothing will in my opinion. This machine does not tie clothes into knots. It is very gentle on clothes, which was the Consumer Report's assessment that caught my eye - the main reason I bought this machine, in other words. As noted above it is a new machine and I will update the review if something changes.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good but for one thing

The washer washes quietly and seems to do a good job on most things. It has a large capacity and is simple to use. However it does not wash with hot water despite having a setting for it. All the wash options, including hot , mix cold water with hot, resulting in barely warm water at the hot setting. I know that modern detergents clean well with cold or mildly warm water but the fact remains that some things should be washed with hot water, such as dish clothes, sheets and so on. This is especially true if someone in the house is ill. There are many times when hot water is needed for a clean, safe wash.
Our water heater is set at 120 degrees and is only a few feet from the washer. I turned off the cold water faucet and the machine ran a thin stream of hot water into the washer despite that faucet being fully open. When the cold water is turned back on the stream increases greatly, in other words on the hot setting cold water gets mixed with hot water. When you set it to a warm setting the water is cold, not warm. Since my old washer used the same faucets and was able to provide hot water its obvious its a designed feature.
Why have a hot setting on the washer at all? The fact that the washer will not give you a hot wash unless you shut off the cold water for the wash fill should be mentioned in the descriptions. And if you shut off the cold you have to remember to turn it back on to rinse, because all rinses use cold water, which is fine. It's the only thing so far that I am dissatisfied with - but if I had to do the purchase over and knew the washer couldn't provide hot water I would probably pick another brand.
