it is just so loud, sounds like an airplane.....even makes a lot of noise when it spends.

Misleading Design

I basically bought this washer because it matched the dryer I had purchased three months earlier. Just looking into the barrel is misleading. It has different levels for the water, and the barrel is very deep, but it never fills up to completely use the usable portion of the barrel. It always stops about six inches from the top of the aluminum? drum, even though the drum has holes all the way up which would indicate to me that it is meant for water to go that high. This replaced a 15-year-old well-known brand which had a big barrel, and I could truly have a super-sized load in it. Another feature I do not like is that I cannot open the lid without the machine stopping. I am new to this area, and I need to see if I am using an appropriate amount of washing powder/liquid with the machine. There is really no way to tell because I cannot watch it agitate. The one great thing I can say about it is that it spins the clothes very well. They come out the driest of any washing machine that I have ever had.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was glad to be able to purchase a washer that was the "old style". I don't have to worry about an computer motherboard issues! This washer works great, clothes are clean, it's very quiet, and so much faster than past washers.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A little disappointed.

Washer and Dryer delivered two days ago. Ran two loads of laundry yesterday. I have had GE washer and dryers for many years, and these are so lightweight that they even "give" in if you lean against the top door. This makes it not as soundproof. When it switches from cycle to cycle you can hear every movement. Must be using a much lesser grade of metal than in previous years.
