Multiple problems over a 7 year period. Lid switch is the latest part to go.

GTWN2800D, GE Top-Loading Washing Machine

After our computer-chipped washing machine gave out (in 4+ years), we looked for a back-to-basics model, with a larger drum. The GTWN2800D model fit the bill, perfectly. As we After our computer-chipped washing machine gave out, we were still caregiving for a bedfast family member--there were many linens to be washed on a daily basis. This workhorse never failed us, once! After 11+ years, it's nearly on its last legs, but we are hunting for a new-used machine, just like it. It's a shame that this model is no longer made...particular care must have gone into making the motor super strong!

Leaves Clothes Wrapped around the Agitator

Very good washer except for the two piece agitator. Waist drawstrings and hoodie drawstrings continuously get caught in the space between the two piece agitator. This causes the clothes to wrap themselves around the agitator.

It tears up my clothes

I was hoping that purchasing a GE product would make me happy - I liked the fact that they are producing again. But, man, this machine tears up clothes! It's ruined 4 shirts and a pair of pajamas. There is no gentle cycle to speak of, and the mildest one doesn't even come close to being gentle. Anything with a string or straps will be destroyed. I could only afford this class of washer......but now I am having to replace clothes it's ruined (ever ruin a 15-y.o. girls brand new shirt??? Not a good reaction!!). BIG regrets on this purchase.
I guess, though, if you only wash jeans and towels it might be okay.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We researched washers for a couple weeks but kept coming back to this one because of the stainless basket, capacity, features and price. It runs and washes great. I read the previous review and I have not had any problems with my machine what so ever, especially with tearing any clothes. I would defineatly recommend this washer to a friend.

I love the automatic fill for water

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine was an excellent buy. My neighbor and I both bought them at the same time. Both our washers gave out 1 day apart. We saw this model at the store and loved the large tub. And the features are wonderful. What a great deal they had as well. We are very happy with our washers. Keep up the good work. So excited to do laundry now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very worried when I first used this washer because it was so quiet...I thought it wasn't working correctly. But my clothes came out so clean...and smelled so good. I like things simple and this washer has just enough features to give me choices but keeping it simple. I really just wanted my clothes to come out clean and smelling even cleaner. So far it is doing a good job. I have recommended this washer to several of my good friends. I am completely satisfied...
