Washes our clothes very well & in a reasonable amount of time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read a number of reviews before this purchase. I liked that it does NOT have a locking lid, takes 40-45 minutes (rather than over an hour like many others), and for some reason I like the stainless tub. Also, it holds pretty large loads & I try to always wash full loads. If I want to use less water, I can control the amount with the size of the load. The machine has a sticker on it that says GE employs more than 4,000 employees in Louisville, KY and it was assembled there. I've only owned it for 3 months, so I don't know how it will be long term. Based upon my current use, I really like it.

Digitally Confused
on December 12, 2012

My father bought me this washer and the matching dryer as a house warming. Being my 1st set ever, I was a little confused. (I'm used to the old top loaders, spin the knob, pull, shut the lid). After installation process, I decided to try a small load of clothes. I did as the manual directed. Pour soap, then put clothes in, shut lid, select my options and hit the start button. The washer filled with water but then did nothing. (The Soak and Wash lights were lit). I selected Rinse, drain and spin. It rinsed and drained but would not spin. So, I thought the washer was broken. I tried EVERY FAQ in the manual before calling GE.
After speaking to a rep, he instructed there is a MASTER RESET THAT IS NOT IN THE MANUAL.
UNPLUG WASHER FOR EXACTLY 1 MINUTE, PLUG BACK IN, OPEN AND CLOSE LID 6 TIMES WITHIN 12 SECONDS, SPIN KNOB TO DRAIN AND SPIN, HIT START BUTTON. This will fix the problem of your washer acting digitally confused. This typically happens right after installing because the guys installing it have to run the washer a few times to make sure hoses do not leak.
Otherwise, I think the washer isn't a bad washer. It takes forever to wash a load of laundry but I've noticed that if you use the "Light" cycle on the "Whites" end. It doesn't use a soak process and speeds up the washing process to a reasonable time!
There are more features then what's needed. Just another way for GE to add on more money to their products. You know the saying "Sometimes less is more" definitely comes to meaning with this. A plus to this washer is the tub is super deep! A queen size comforter has no problems fitting and being washed!

Does not meet expectations

I have never had a washer that did not spin out the soapy water. The only spin cycle is at the very end. Cloths come out with soap still in them.
It fills washes, drains, fills swishes 5 times and drains and spins. That is it. Cloths not clean
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

THIS PRODUCT DOES A GOOD JOB

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I selected this machine because it was "user friendly". I was tired of all the limits of other brands, imposed to "keep the user safe"and force one to conserve water and energy. This washer handles various size loads. It washes clean, and the spin cycle does a great job. I especially like the choice of selecting "power rinse"

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a family of nine and wash tons of clothes on a daily basis. This washer has cut my loads in half. Very quiet too. Easy to use.

Simple Efficiency

I replaced an HE top loader with this excellent, old school top loader. I really like that you can select the water level that you need to get your clothes really clean. The large capacity tub allows me to wash a king size comforter with no problem. I use the power rinse option and it provides very thorough rinsing. This machine spins the loads nearly dry and never goes out of balance like my previous HE machine did. It is so quiet that I hardly know that it is running and it get my clothes really clean, at about 45 mins. per load. I am very pleased!

Excellent washer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an outstanding machine! I was looking for a good quality washer, like my old one, with simple dials, with the agitator in the middle of the tub. I wanted to be able to set the water temps., water level, cycle, etc. myself, and that's what you get with this machine. I love how quiet this washer is; I still open the lid to check that it's on and doing its thing- you can barely hear it. My laundry is cleaner than it ever was before. My father-in-law tried to steer me toward a pricier model with a lot of fussy little features on it, but this washer is really all anyone needs. The capacity is awesome- I can wash a king- sized quilt in it, no problem. If you want a great machine that lets you control each load, thoroughly washes your things, but without all the pricey mumbo-jumbo on it, and at a great price, this is your washer.
