Great washer, cleans clothes and saves energy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This washer replaced a 23 year old generic Whirlpool.
I purchased based on "Made in USA" and on product reviews, and am exrememly happy with this item.
My clothes are cleaner than ever and the washer uses loads less energy and water. Our water bill has been reduced dramatically. And you can use traditional OR HE detergent. I'd recommend this washer to anyone.

Inner Tube Base Disintegrated after 5-7 years

We had this washer for 5 years and then the inner tube base began to disintegrate. After 7 years it completely broke to the point where the inner drum was no longer attached to the shaft (see photo). No high quality appliance should completely brake that fast

GE dryer

A bought a GE dryer about 8 months ago. It's a terrible set up with the lint tray in the front door- it gets all over our clothes with no cover on it. The lint gets stuck to the door & in your clothes.

Good washer but needed a bigger pump

We had this machine 6 months and after the second GE repairman came out to look at why it wasn't spinning and draining properly, he installed a new, more powerful pump. Our machine is in the basement and has to pump water up to the septic about 6 feet. The original pump could not handle that length. The machine now spins and drains very well. I will agree with other reviewers that you have to be careful with clothing that has straps and ties. They tend to get caught in the agitator. I just hope this machine doesn't need a new spinner next. We were originally very unhappy with this purchase, but it does seem to be working better now and the stainless steel drum is a nice feature.

Needed a reliable product. This one is one of the few that used the old designs - before government pressure forced the newer less reliable designs.
