I bought this washer the week of Christmas from Sears and it has done everything as described. This was the only traditional model that still had a pre-soak mode on the washer. I love the deep wash tub and that the drum is stainless steel. It is quite during wash cycle but louder then my old washer in the spin cycles. I like that it has more clothes care options then my old washer. And I love the power rinse option. I also like the fact that this model has more water temperature settings then my previous model. Which was also a GE washer. My only complaint this washer seems to be a hybrid. Even though it has a traditional agitator drum the water filling is similar to an HE model. Have to set load size between load levels to ensure the washer is properly filled in the wash drum. Very good washer for the price hope to get 10 years or more out of this washer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very noisey

Just ran the first load through this machine. It is very loud and the vibration carries throughout the house. Replaced a 13 year old machine, I now wish that I would have repaired the old unit. How is it that dishwashers have gotten so quiet and GE comes out with a clothes washer that is so crazy annoyingly loud ?

This was purchased for me as a gift. I am happy with the options it offers, different cycles, temps....It it mostly quiet but when it does make strange noises when it does make noise. For a large family, this is a great choice, I am pleased.

Spin cycle sounds like a jet airplane

We got this new GE washer delivered yesterday and while the agitator cycle is very quiet, the spin cycle sounds like a jet airplane is taking off...you can hear it clear across the house! I think something may not be working right, so we may call a service person to check it out.

1st:Salespeople DO NOT KNOW HOW IT WORKS.This is not their fault, it is GE. 2nd:You will need a dedicted electrical circuit as this is computer based wash cycles.Any skip in power WILL affect this machine.3rd:The machine FREQUENTLY will go off balance-no matter which cycle you use.Do not leave the laundry area, in fact, stay very close so you can pause/stop the machine to re-balance.4th:If you have thick, plush towels, good luck trying to keep machine in balance.5th: Keep dryer @ least 1ft from washer or when off balance will crash into it. Also, legs are not rubber but hard plastic, causing machine to creep and bounce exessively.6th YOU MUST READ EVERY WORD OF THE INSTRUCTION BOOK.Gets clothes clean but do not trust to remain in place or go off balance. Only keeping for a few more months as cannot justify buying another brand after only 1 year of use. Have had repair/maintenance people out twice, once to find out needed own circuit and then again to re-set computer.DO NOT TRY TO WASH BLANKETS, PLUSH TOWELS, NO COMFORTERS,NO QUILTS. Machine need to be revamped to stop when off balance, not continue to run. This HAS to be an experimental machine-sometimes agitate type, sometimes soak & spin. GE, make one or the other machine type and GET RID OF THE CORKSCREW AGITATOR. This is what causes all the clothes to go to one side and get tangled.

My washer started sounding like it was coming apart after only a few weeks. Then it broke down and needed a complete motor and circuit board. Now after a few weeks it is again sounding like it is coming apart.
