My old GE washer was purchased 2/28/1996, although still working, I was ready for a new one. I've only used once so far, but it performed beautifully. I very much like the extended spin, not on my old one. This on is energy efficient, another plus

Like a lot of others I see, there's a problem with the water levels. If its an efficiency washer it uses less water and electricity right ? If your clothes aren't cleaning properly without the higher water level this means you must make the load of clothes smaller. Which means you have to do 5 loads instead of 4. Where's the savings in that ?? I do like how quiet it runs though !

I am sad to say that this is the worst washer I have ever owned. The agitator tangles clothes so badly that it has ruined many and wasted many more hours of my time just trying to get loads free. I love the fact that it is American made but am highly disappointed in its function.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
