We bought a whirlpool and had to take it back in a week. Would not spin out clothes. Bought this and it is 1000 times better. Great washer. Love that this is quiet and has a lot of features.

WORKS LIKE IT SHOULD

I got this about 10 days ago. It works well. I wish it would fill with the top open so I could continue adding items to wash, but I will get used to that. The agitation is so quiet I thought it might not be working the first time I used it. It has nice features. My old dryer broke so I replaced the set.

I purchased this washer last week and used it this weekend. Didn't realize it was going to have sound effects, though. After reading the pamphlet I then knew that there would a variety of sounds as it cycled. I like the simplicity of the settings. I felt that my wash was more dry coming out of the spin cycle. I love my new washer and dryer.

Best of the "new" machines
on February 4, 2015

I bought this machine about a month ago when my former washing machine of 20 years died and am fast becoming a huge fan of this new model!!!. I researched many, many machines and bought this one because it combines the best of the old machinery and the best of the new washing machine features too. I love that the drum is stainless steel and has a large capacity for large loads but also has the versatility available for washing a light weight sleeping bag or twin size duvet. Mostly, I love that the lid does NOT lock, making it easier than ALL the other machines out there presently to add clothing later in a load, if need be. Yes, the lid must be closed but there is no locking mechanism that you have to wait for in other machines if you want to check the clothing or add an article of clothing later. This is actually the main reason I chose this machine over the others that had similar features. I also love that the creators of this machine allowed for people to choose whether to use a sensing feature to decide how much water is needed for a particular load of clothing OR to use a manual setting, to allow you to choose the amount of water you would prefer to use! I love that it has a special cycle setting for jeans so that they are washed more gently --- this is great so they don't lose their color so fast. I love the extra "hand wash" cycle. I have been able to wash delicate items in this ccycle and have been so pleased with the gentle agitation. The agitation for this is just that: so very gentle!! People who complain that it wrinkles their clothing are most likely loading the machine too full. I have been able to do large loads but have not packed clothing in -- and I simply choose a manual water setting if need by, and the clothing comes out just fine! I have washed towels on the sensing setting and, even though it appears there is not enough water as compared to the older models, I have been pleasantly surprised to find they have come out cleaner than in my previous machine!! The only thing I do not like is that I cannot change a cycle setting midstream or go back and restart a cycle setting, without the machine stopping and emptying out the water before it will go with the new cycle you've decided to run. That's been pretty much the only frustrating thing for me so far. Thanks, GE, for this combination machine -- giving us choices to use the old way of washing in a lot of water or the new with the sensing ability. Thanks for creating a lid closing feature that doesn't drive people crazy! I am deeply grateful for this machine after looking at and reviewing many, many other makes and models out there.

Like the features and appearance. The basket/drum seems huge to me, compared to my previous washer. Especially liked the fact that the door is medium-sized. Thus, it's only 51 inches tall with door opened 90 deg, leaving clearance from the bottom of my wall cabinets.

Just installed this washer. I like the capacity and quiteness. Also, it washed and rings the clothes quite well - ready to go to the dryer.
