Terrible washer

We bought this washer August 02, 2015, and it is falling apart. It has always been very noisy especially in the spin cycle. My husband has replaced a rubber seal and that did not fix the leak. He is now going to try replacing the seal again and put sealant around it to see if that will stop the leaking. GE is there anything you suggest for fixing this model? Do you warrant any of the parts? Please advise! Very disappointed if we have to purchase another washer so soon!!

We had a front loading machine with lots of features for a while. Now we have this simple machine that I don't need the manual to figure it out.

Worst Washer I have ever owned

This washer came highly recommended and fit the small space I had to put a washer in. It has been nothing but a piece of junk since I purchased it. It is 5 years old and I have had to have service come out every year since I purchased it- sometimes 2 times a year. I will never purchase a GE washer again. I am not shocked that this is no longer manufactured.

Poor Quality

After having this washer for a short amount of time. It has already shown many signs of wear and tear. The inside has rusted and pieces of it has been mixed in with our laundry. The quality of cleanliness is sub par to other washers we had. It has also stopped draining properly and stopping mid cycle which causes constant restarting and sour clothing. Overall I am very disappointed in this washer and it has caused my family many inconveniences.

We truly hate to hear your washer has shown signs of wear, and you’re having an issue with rust as well as how clean it gets your clothes, draining issues and stopping mid cycle. We know issues like those would be inconvenient, especially when you haven’t had the washer very long. This isn’t the great experience we want you to have, and we’d like to help.

We do have instructions regarding cleaning the rust from the basket, if that would help. We recommend unplugging the appliance before any cleaning or maintenance, for safety reasons. Then spray the basket with Windex (slight alkaline solution), clean the basket with Magic Eraser to remove the particles (Magic Eraser won’t scratch the basket), and wipe off the Windex. Then spray the basket with an oxalic acid based cleaner (such as Bar Keepers Friend) and wipe the basket thoroughly. These cleaning instructions will solve the issue with surface rust, and may help prevent rust in future. Wiping water spots off after the cycle with a wet cloth can also help with preventing rust.

Regarding the trouble you’ve had with the cleaning performance, you may want to make sure you’re using the recommended type and amount of detergent, and loading the clothes loosely and evenly around the outside of the basket. For the issue you’ve had with the machine not draining, we recommend checking the drain hose to ensure it isn’t kinked or obstructed in any way. Trouble with draining could also be causing the issue with stopping mid cycle, though that can be caused by other factors as well. This washer was not new but new to me. I was amazed at the size of the tub and that it is stainless steel. There is so much room for clothing and bedding ..... I am very happy.

Rusted out inside!

Rust spots all over clothing, kept getting worse. Started to chip paint in big chunk and was all rusted under paint. Started to rust around bleach dispenser so I got appliance paint and painted over it all. Needless to say it's all rusted in the inside of washer. Warranty only covers motor! What a piece of crap. The towel cycle hasn't worked, shuts if soon as water starts to dispense. Very upset that I wasted all that money. Never purchase a GE appliance again.

The best washer lasted a long time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After 11 years of great performance, the motor went out. I was so disappointed that GE no longer makes this model. The quiet agitator was one of the best features of this washer. I chose this machine for its smaller capacity, the hand wash cycle, basic controls and the price was right. The capacity of the drum was perfect for a two person household. I liked the choice of the water auto sense or controlling the water level myself. Clothes always clean. Never any mildew odors. I purchased a new GE washer. New washers no longer have a quiet agitator or a hand wash cycle. Hope GE will make this model again.
