Not Enough Water

I always use the load size super and it does not fill to the top of the spiral agitator, it stops halfway. It does clean clothes pretty good but not so much with comforters however it does the job and it spins really great but I am disappointed that I have to use a bucket to add more water to do a full load.

Hi jojo97 - Thanks for sharing your valuable feedback. We are so glad to hear your washer is washing and spinning well. We're sorry for any inconvenience with the water level and understand your frustration. Here is some information explaining why newer washers are using less water: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=38008

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my washer on 3/2/2013 and tub won't agitate. I followed directions and completed 2 empty speed cycles. I tried a small load with only my fabric softener ball inside. It confirmed the tub was not agitating because I could not hear the fabric softener ball banging around. Now I have to wait to swap out for another new washer. Hoping the next one won't do the same thing! I had my last GE for 12 years. They don't make them like that anymore.

This is a quiet machine that does everything well but wash clothes
on November 11, 2012

I have had my machine for about ten weeks now, replacing a similar-sized domestic brand that did an excellent job for nearly twenty-five years, until it was dropped in a move. I purchased this machine for its traditional top-load configuration, its stainless steel tub, and the fact that it was made in the USA.
The one thing I like about this machine is that it is very quiet. However, it takes much too long to wash a load of clothes. My biggest complaint, though, is that the machine just does not do what it should. Even using the "Super" load setting yields only a few inches of water in the bottom of the tub, leaving the clothes on top still dry well into the wash cycle. There seems to be no correlation between the manual water level setting and what the machine actually does. I have even tried adding water manually while it is filling, but the machine promptly pumps the hot soapy water down the drain instead. What would have taken half an hour to wash one load of clothes now takes three or four times that long and two separate loads to wash the same clothes. Even then, heavily soiled clothes are not washed well. Energy-saving, indeed!
A salesman at one store I visited before I made my selection told me that due to new EPA regulations, I would not be able to find a machine that does as good a job as my old one, and I have begun to believe he is right. This GE machine certainly does not. I will probably be returning it for a refund shortly. I think I will be better served by spending what is necessary to have the old one rebuilt.

This is the noisiest machine I have ever owned

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the noisiest machine I have ever owned. It has too many controls that seem to prevent me from controlling my washing, soaking, etc. I am short and the tub is a little too deep. I bought the machine instead of my usual Maytag because we own stock in GE, but I will not buy another one unless there are lots of improvements.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this washer for about 3 months now and it is doing great. My clothes get cleaner than they did with my previous washer that died. I would recommend it.

Not too happy with this machine

Had to purchase new washer because my old one finally stopped working properly. Was looking for large capacity, traditional, reasonably priced machine. This one was the closest one I found. After using it for a few months, I am very aggravated with it. Most times, the clothes are left soggy wet, and I have to run the drain cycle 2 or 3 times before I can transfer to the dryer. Big waste of time and energy. Also, with my older machine, I was able to wash in warm or hot water and rinse in cold (to save energy). This machine does not have different wash & rinse temps. On the positive side, it does clean well, just wish it would drain all the water out in one cycle.

DON'T BUY

MY NEW GE WASHER WAS JUST INSTALLED ON 11/26/2012, AND i ALREADY HATE IT. IT TAKES AN HOUR TO DO A LOAD OF WASH, NO MATTER WHAT SETTING. IT HAS A LARGE TUB BUT DOES NOT FILL TO CAPACITY EVEN IF YOU PICK A MANUAL SETTING. I WASHED A COMFORTER AND DIDN'T FEEL THE WASHER ADDED ENOUGH WATER TO CLEAN IT. AFTER DRYING IT, IT IS ALL CLUMPY. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WITH MY OLD GE WASHER. AT TIMES THERE IS SOAP STILL LEFT IN MY CLOTHES AND I HAVE TO RINSE THEM OVER AGAIN. THIS IS THE WORST MACHINE I HAVE EVER OWNED AND IT WILL BE THE LAST GE WASHER I PURCHASE.

Bought this model Nov 2012. It is a piece of junk!

Doesn't do a good job of cleaning. Also Left dry spots on large (no larger than queen sheet size) items even though they went through entire wash, fab soft rinse cycle, and entire cycles. Leaves lint even though clothes are sorted correctly, and not overloaded. Wrinkles clothes badly though not overloaded. Just a general piece of junk. Wish I could get my old washer back!!!!
